As a fellow outdoor enthusiast and content creator who shares a similar passion for the wilderness, I cannot help but be deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Storm De Beul. His spirit, zest for adventure, and dedication to capturing the beauty of the Nordic landscapes resonated with me, and I was always eagerly awaiting his next video.

Sadly, Storm De Beul, a 22-year-old video creator on YouTube, met his untimely end during a snowstorm while adventuring through the landscapes of Lapland, Finland.

He is renowned for his affinity towards untouched nature. He frequently posts videos of his expeditions in Norway and Finland on his YouTube channel, which goes by the name Storm or StormOutdoorsy. His content primarily revolves around survival skills, bushcraft, and breathtaking Nordic vistas.

His content found strong connection within a committed audience, as his videos often garnered approximately 15,000 views each time.

“Tonight, it’s going to get worse.”

Local authorities discovered De Beul’s body on October 30, 2024, some distance from his campsite.

Before his passing, he composed last messages for his dear ones, among them a message to his grandmother in which he comforted her by stating that he was still okay, despite the increasingly heavy snowfall.

In a video sent to a friend, he acknowledged the storm’s increasing severity, stating, “Tonight, it’s going to get worse.”

His frozen body showed signs of a fall, with a broken nose and frozen limbs.

Father’s appeal for help

Due to harsh weather during the rescue operation, it was challenging for responders to establish a safe workspace, leaving De Beul’s camera equipment still lost.

Since then, his father has reached out to the community, asking for help in finding the equipment that he thinks may provide insights into his son’s last moments.

“His videos are a priceless legacy for us. But now his camera is there, somewhere in the snow, full of images of his very last trek. I would love nothing more than to get it back,” he said.

Regardless of the small possibility of retrieving the gear, his father stays resolute in attempting this task, highlighting the significance of saving De Beul’s last keepsakes to console his mourning family.
