Fans of the character Bluey couldn’t contain their excitement when they saw the balloon floating again during the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Earlier, on Wednesday, the huge balloon for this popular children’s figure had burst while being inflated on Central Park West before the event. It was reported that people nearby heard a loud explosion sound coming from the balloon and felt a burst of gas in their direction that afternoon. Later inspection revealed a big tear in one of the balloon’s paws which led to its collapse.
Bluey balloon made a comeback after popping ahead of parade
Despite some unexpected issues, “Bluey” was successfully repaired and prepared on time for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this Thursday. The New York Post revealed that organizers put in extra effort to mend the balloon’s paw-hole, which had caused it to deflate just a day before the event. Among the 22 giant balloons participating in the grand showcase in New York City for the annual holiday parade, “Bluey” was one of them. Other attractions included 34 floats and seven ‘balloonicles’.
Earlier on, New York Police Department’s Chief of Patrol John Chell had reassured fans that “Bluey” would be ready for the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade by stating on his social media platform (previously known as Twitter) that the balloons were all set for the annual event. He also added that Bluey was recovering well, implying that the “Bluey” balloon would perform brilliantly the following day. Along with his message, he shared two pictures – one featuring the popular cartoon character and another showing NYPD officials standing in front of Macy’s balloons.
People who were at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade excitedly applauded the “Bluey” balloon and subsequently uploaded pictures and videos of the popular incident onto X. The site experienced a surge of posts featuring the balloon. One user commented, “She has risen baby girl,” expressing their joy that the balloon had been repaired after it had burst during inflation, only to soar again. Another commended the boisterous cheers from the crowd for Bluey and her keep-up balloon! The post also noted that Bluey looked great in the parade following the “inflation scare.
The annual event also witnessed rainfall during the cloudy day.
