As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of experience under my belt, I must say the news of Sterling K. Brown joining the live-action Voltron cast has me more than just a little excited! Growing up in the 80s, Voltron was a staple in our household, and to see it coming to life on the big screen is nothing short of amazing.
Amazon MGM Studios has added two more actors to the cast of the upcoming live-action Voltron film. Actress Laura Gordon, known for her roles in Saw V and Late Night with the Devil, and actor Tim Griffin, who’s been seen in The Bourne Supremacy and Central Intelligence, have signed on for the project. At this point, there is no confirmed start date for production or release date for the movie.
Who is in the live-action Voltron cast?
As a diehard Voltron fan, I’m absolutely thrilled to share that I’ll be part of the team bringing the live-action movie to life! Headlining our cast is none other than Henry Cavill, famously known for his roles in Man of Steel and The Witcher. Joining him is newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye who will undoubtedly make a splash.
More information regarding the individual characters remains confidential. The film will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, with a script penned by Ellen Shanman. Additionally, Thurber serves as a producer alongside Todd Lieberman, Bob Koplar, and David Hoberman. This project is a joint production between Hidden Pictures and Hobie Films.
As a passionate gamer speaking directly to all of you fellow Voltron enthusiasts, let me assure you that our team is committed to preserving the essence and the soul of this legendary robot. In the upcoming movie, we’re going to unveil a fresh batch of pilots, but don’t worry, we’re not straying too far from what made Voltron so iconic in the first place – those elements that you cherish, that I adore. I can hardly contain my excitement to reveal it all to you!
The Voltron franchise originates from Toei Animation’s mecha anime show called “Beast King GoLion,” which was broadcast over 52 episodes between 1981 and 1982. This series centered around five young space explorers who commanded Robot Lions, which merged into the main character, a giant robot known as Voltron. It gained significant popularity after being transformed into an English animated television show by World Events Productions and ABC, airing from 1984 to 1985. The show’s success led to several more animated TV spin-offs, two video games, and a collection of toys.
