Ringo Starr Seemingly Confirms Who Is Playing Him in Sam Mendes’ Beatles Movies

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of Rock Band, I’m thrilled to hear the news about Sam Mendes’ Beatles movies! The prospect of seeing the Fab Four’s story unfold on the big screen is like hitting that elusive perfect note combo in a game – pure joy and anticipation!

It appears Ringo Starr has made it known that Barry Keoghan is set to portray him in the upcoming Beatles films directed by Sam Mendes.

In February 2024, it became public knowledge that Ciarán Mendes, famously behind the camera for films such as Skyfall (2012) and 1917 (2019), had taken on a project to direct four distinct movies focusing on the Beatles. Each movie will delve into the unique perspectives of one individual band member.

Since then, there’s been an outpouring of internet speculation about potential castings for the band, with names like Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan being mentioned.

In an interview with ET Tonight, Starr appears to have verified that Keoghan will undeniably portray him in Mendes’ movies.

What did Ringo Starr say about Barry Keoghan and Sam Mendes’ Beatle movies?

Responding to the question about Keoghan possibly portraying him in Mendes’ films, Starr remarked, “I think he’s fantastic, and I suspect he’s out there learning to play the drums right now.

Starr expressed the viewpoint that maybe Keoghan shouldn’t be taking an excessive number of drum lessons, since in his opinion, drummers should develop their unique style.

Mendes is responsible for directing all four films, and he’ll work together with Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor from eal Street Productions on production duties. Additionally, Jeff Jones from Apple Corps Ltd. will serve in the role of executive producer. The movies are set to be distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Previously, I was humbled to find myself tasked with narrating the tale of the most legendary rock band ever, and thrilled at the prospect of redefining the very essence of a cinematic adventure.

Harris stated, “We aim to create an exceptionally exciting, grand cinematic journey: four movies, each offering a unique perspective on the same story about the most renowned band ever – The Beatles. Having Apple Corps’ and The Beatles’ approval for this venture is a tremendous honor. From our initial encounter with Tom Rothman and Elizabeth Gabler, it was evident that they resonated with our enthusiasm and ambition for this project, and we can’t imagine a more suitable studio than Sony Pictures.
