Nominations announced for the 2024 Billboard Music Awards including Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and more

As a music enthusiast who has been following the industry for decades, I must say that this year’s Billboard Music Awards lineup is nothing short of breathtaking! With its focus on data-driven achievements and its commitment to celebrating artists across all genres, it truly reflects the dynamic and diverse nature of today’s music scene.

Towards the end of the year, it’s common for people to reminisce about the past twelve months, particularly about the year 2024. This is also the season where the highly esteemed Billboard Music Awards are held.

The program, established in 1990, focuses on various music genres by showcasing recording artists and recognizing their accomplishments. Winners are chosen based on factors such as album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, concert tours, and social media engagement, all of which are monitored continuously by Billboard throughout the year.

Instead of relying on audience voting like many other shows do, the Billboard Music Awards places greater emphasis on year-end performance data gathered directly from the Billboard charts.

2024’s eligibility for the show is determined by the timeframe of “Billboard‘s Year-End Charts,” which calculates music consumption from October 28, 2023 to October 19, 2024.

If your preferred album was released on or after October 19th, it won’t qualify for the 2024 awards event, but if it performs exceptionally well in terms of sales and data, it could be a contender for the 2025 showcase the following year.

This year, the Billboard Music Awards are coming back to their original broadcasting network, Fox, which was their home channel from 1990 until 2006.

Apart from airing on Fox, the show can also be viewed across several platforms including Paramount+, which allows for on-demand streaming, and the Fire TV Channels app that grants easy access to viewers using Amazon devices like Fire TV smart TVs, streaming media players, and Fire Tablets, as Billboard elaborates.

The significant update we’re discussing stems from Jay Penske, who serves as both the chair and CEO of PMC, along with being the CEO of Dick Clark Productions – the company responsible for the production of this show.

Penske clarified that by offering several viewing platforms and opportunities, fans will have a greater choice to catch their favorite artists who climbed the music charts with their support.

He went on to explain that by collaborating with Fox, Paramount+, and Fire TV Channels, we can easily connect with music lovers. This is because they can access our content across various platforms – whether it’s through traditional television, streaming on-demand services, or from their mobile devices.

In terms of nominations, Zach Bryan is currently ahead with a total of 18 nominations and 21 submissions overall.

Taylor Swift leads the pack with 16 category nominations and 17 total entries, followed closely by Morgan Wallen with 15 finalist entries across 13 categories. Sabrina Carpenter is not far behind with nine entries. Although they are the frontrunners, there are many other talented artists who are also vying for awards in these categories.

There are several artists who have been finalists at least five times, such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Teddy Swims, and Tyla, each having made it eight times; Bad Bunny, Benson Boone, Chandler Moore, Jung Kook, Naomi Raine, Shaboozey, and SZA, all having done so six times; while KAROL G, Linkin Park, and Maverick City Music have been finalists five times each. Among these, Swims, Boone, Shaboozey, and Tyla are newcomers to the Billboard Music Awards.

Furthermore, Tommy Richman, Falling in Reverse, Forest Frank, Junior H, Chappell Roan, ENHYPEN, Muni Long, and The Red Clay Strays are among the newcomers who have been nominated more than once. Specifically, Tommy Richman was nominated four times, while Falling in Reverse, Forest Frank, Junior H, and Chappell Roan each received three nominations. ENHYPEN, Muni Long, and The Red Clay Strays were both nominated twice.

As a gamer, I can tell you that getting a recording contract is like reaching the final boss level in a hardcore game, stepping into the music industry feels like entering a new, challenging world. But let me tell you, being nominated for a Billboard Music Award? That’s like finding a rare, powerful item that instantly levels up your character. And to be a finalist for multiple awards so early on? It’s like unlocking secret cheat codes that give you an edge over everyone else in the game!

This year sees the introduction of several new awards such as “Top Hard Rock Album,” “Top Hard Rock Artist,” and “Top Hard Rock Song.” Notably, artists like HARDY, Falling in Reverse, and Linkin Park are making strong showings in those respective categories.

2024 saw me diving into a melting pot of hits, as I found myself appreciating the groundbreaking collaborations of artists like Post Malone, Queen B (Beyoncé), and the timeless Dolly Parton. Their ability to blend genres made for an unforgettable musical journey throughout the year.

Shaboozey is gearing up for an exclusive performance right from the W Hollywood! More artists and notable guests will be unveiled soon, so stay tuned over the next few days and weeks!
