As a long-time gamer who vividly remembers the excitement surrounding Concord’s release and the subsequent heartbreak when it was shut down, I must say that this new development feels like salt in an old wound. The teaser for Secret Level’s Concord episode, featuring all-new characters, is akin to dangling a carrot that we can never reach.
Historically, Sony’s PlayStation-exclusive title Concord is widely regarded as one of the most significant missteps in the gaming industry. Closing its doors just 14 days post-launch, this multiplayer hero shooter has earned the label of a monumental flop.
Despite this, the forthcoming Amazon series titled “Secret Level,” which combines animated tales from video games including a sequel to Space Marine 2, apparently includes an episode centered around Concord. Yet, it seems this episode is more of a subtle marketing pitch for characters that will never be released.
Concord Secret Level episode features all-new characters
Fans got their first sneak peek at the upcoming episode of Amazon’s new animated series, “Secret Level,” specifically its Concord episode, as showcased in a recent ad. Interestingly, none of the characters displayed in the teaser are part of the initial release version of the game.
It seems that there’s an exceptional degree of corporate awkwardness as it turns out the latest animated installment serves as a sneak peek for characters intended to be added after the initial release.
As an eager fan, I must admit that prior to Concord’s release, we were treated to a single comprehensive trailer that showcased a thrilling tale of two rival crews vying for valuable loot. Remarkably, each and every one of these characters made their appearance in the game at its launch.
On the other hand, the episode “Concord” from Secret Level introduces a fresh group of characters, including an alien character resembling a female fish. The audience is encouraged to “Discover Concord”, a place only accessible within the context of this episode.

Concord Level is also planning to showcase several other Sony PlayStation games such as God of War and Helldivers 2. It’s noticeable that there’s a strong emphasis on promoting various titles, regardless of their captivating narratives. However, the inclusion of Concord in Sony’s marketing strategy still seems odd for PlayStation promotions.
As a gamer who once eagerly awaited updates on my favorite Concord game, it’s clear now that the servers have officially gone dark, refunds have been issued, and the studio has closed its doors forever. It’s unfortunate, but it seems the game has met its end. Even if the new episode becomes the most popular show in history for PS5, the exclusive game is now buried, with only its ghostly reminiscence lingering on.
The Concord episode of Secret Level releases via Amazon Prime on December 10, 2024.
