As a die-hard fan who has been following Iman Vellani‘s meteoric rise since her debut as Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel, I must say that her transition into the world of YA fantasy with “Shiver” is an absolute thrill! It’s fascinating to witness such a promising talent venture beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe and explore new realms.
Following her role in last year’s The Marvels, up-and-coming MCU star Iman Vellani has secured her next significant film venture: Shiver, an upcoming movie adaptation of the popular young adult fantasy novel by Maggie Stiefvater. This marks Vellani’s first non-Marvel production, following nearly two years since her acting debut on Disney+’s Ms. Marvel series.
Who is in the Shiver cast?
In addition to Vellani, actors such as Greg Kinnear (known for “As Good As It Gets”), Alexander Ludwig (“The Hunger Games”), Sofia Wylie (“High School Musical: The Musical Series”), Ross Butler (“Shazam! Fury of the Gods”), Alicia Witt (“Longlegs”), and Lyon Daniels (“The Spiderwick Chronicles”) have also signed up for the cast of “Shiver”. The roles they will play are currently being kept confidential, but more information is expected to be revealed soon. Maddie Ziegler (“My Old Ass”) and Levi Miller (“Kraven the Hunter”) are set to lead this upcoming production.
The movie is currently being helmed by Claire McCarthy, who co-wrote the script with Jett Tattersall. Production companies involved include Simple House Films and CatchLight Studios. Ziegler, Addam Bramich, Ryan Hamilton, Volodymyr Artemenko, and Jeanette Volturno are producers, while Anna Todd serves as executive producer. At present, filming is underway in Vancouver, Canada.

In the official synopsis (from Deadline), it is stated: “Shiver, a character who was attacked by a pack of wolves in her childhood, has an unbreakable bond with one of them – a wolf with yellow eyes. As she grows older, she encounters a young man named Sam, also bearing the same striking yellow eyes. Instantly feeling a strong connection to him, their love story unfolds amidst enigmatic occurrences, unexplained disappearances, and secrets that eventually uncover Sam’s true identity and his link to the wolves. As winter draws near, Sam struggles to retain his humanity, or risk being lost forever, along with Grace.
