Dwayne Johnson Endorses Singing in Movie Theaters: ‘That’s the Fun Part’

As a longtime fan of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his incredible journey from wrestling ring to Hollywood superstar, I couldn’t be more thrilled about his latest encouragement to let loose and sing our hearts out in movie theaters for Moana 2! Growing up, my family would often sing along to musicals during car rides, and there’s just something magical about joining voices with others to celebrate the power of storytelling through music.

Dwayne Johnson is encouraging people to sing in movie theaters.

Johnson will soon be back in the role of Maui for Moana 2, the upcoming animated sequel to the 2016 movie Moana. Showing in U.S. cinemas later this week, the film boasts a musical score by Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa’i, while Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear penned the songs.

What did Dwayne Johnson say about singing in movie theaters?

In conversation with BBC News, Johnson advised that fans of Moana need not worry about singing aloud while watching Moana’s fresh journey in the cinema.

“Especially if you love music, that’s the fun part,” he said.

Johnson remarked, “Go ahead and sing! You’ve spent your own money on a ticket for this musical, immersed yourself in it, so why not join in?

Discussion about this subject has been quite active on social platforms, particularly since Jon M. Chu’s Wicked hit theaters a couple of days ago. Some viewers have voiced their displeasure about paying for a ticket and listening to others sing during the film, especially when there are planned sing-a-long screenings. On the other hand, others argue that they enjoy expressing themselves vocally while attending movies at the theater.

In United States theaters on November 27, 2024, the sequel to Moana, produced by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, will be screened. Auliʻi Cravalho voices Moana again, with Temuera Morrison as Tui and Nicole Scherzinger as Sina. Additional voice actors are also part of the cast.

The animated musical sequel “Moana 2,” produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, brings back the voices of Cravalho as Moana and Johnson as Maui after three years. This time, they embark on a grand new voyage with a motley crew of sailors. According to the synopsis, Moana is summoned by her ancestral guides in a surprising manner, leading her to navigate the vast oceans of Oceania and venture into perilous, forgotten waters for an extraordinary journey that surpasses any challenge she’s previously encountered.
