Based on Bloomberg’s reports, Sony’s upcoming handheld gadget is still several years off, and there’s a possibility that the project might be abandoned at some point. At present, Sony offers the PlayStation Portal, a streaming game device. If developed, this new device would have the capability to directly play PS5 games, representing a comeback to standalone handheld gaming since the PSP and PS Vita were discontinued long ago.
Recently, the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, revealed in a conversation with Bloomberg that Microsoft is developing a portable Xbox device. Much like Sony’s offering, it may be several years before this device hits the market.
