As a devoted fan who has followed Rishab Shetty’s journey since his days in comedy skits, I must say this recent turn of events has left me with a heavy heart. The accident involving the junior artists on the set of Kantara: Chapter 1 is a stark reminder that even in the magical world of cinema, real-life challenges are ever-present.
The first chapter of the movie “Kantara,” starring Rishab Shetty, has encountered a recent setback. As reported by News 18, tragically, a bus transporting about 20 junior artists was involved in a severe accident on the road. The incident occurred when the driver seemingly lost control of the vehicle, happening close to Jadkal, a location near Kollur in Karnataka.
According to the report, the vehicle carrying the supporting actors flipped over during travel, causing six individuals to sustain severe injuries. Immediately, they were taken to the hospital for necessary medical care. This unfortunate event took place while the team was heading back to Kollur following a shoot in Mudoor.
Due to recent events, the filming timetable for Kantara: Chapter 1 has been thrown off balance, impacting production activities at multiple coastal sites. The well-being of those injured is a matter of concern, and we are eagerly waiting for updates on their condition. At present, they are receiving treatment at Jadkaal Mahalakshmi Clinic.
A few days ago, Rishab Shetty shared the release date of his upcoming film through his social media accounts. In a post, he wrote, “The time is here. The sacred forest echoes. Kantara Chapter 1 will have its worldwide premiere on October 2, 2025. #KantaraChapter1onOct2 #Kantara.
In Chapter 1 of Kantara, viewers can anticipate enjoying the movie in various languages such as Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam. While it’s classified as a prequel, specific plot points have yet to be revealed. Director Rishab Shetty is working diligently to keep details about the cast and crew confidential.

Right now, Rishab Shetty is filming for the precursor to Kantara. We’re now in our third round of shooting, and it looks like this phase will go on for a while. According to someone familiar with the project, about half of the filming has already been wrapped up.
In the initial release of Kantara, we were introduced to the mythos of the Panjurli Daiva. The upcoming prequel, on the other hand, promises to explore the roots of these occurrences.
Simultaneously, Rishab Shetty gained attention when he was chosen as the main actor for director Prasanth Varma’s upcoming movie named Jai Hanuman. This film serves as a follow-up to Teja Sajja’s HanuMan and is associated with the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU).
