As a dedicated fan who’s been with this series since its humble beginnings, I must admit, the news of some original leads exiting “All American” has left me with a bittersweet feeling – like Spencer leaving his beloved Beverly Hills High for the NFL draft. But fear not, fellow fans! The seventh season promises to bring fresh faces and new stories that could entice even casual viewers to join our ever-growing family.
It seems like Jordan, Layla, and Coop are preparing for something significant. On January 29th at 8:00 PM, viewers will catch a sneak peek of season seven before the series resumes its usual airing on Monday nights starting February 3rd at 8:00 PM. Given that some main characters from All American have left ahead of the new season, it’s uncertain whether the seventh season will maintain the pace that fans have grown accustomed to from the show. With new characters and situations on the horizon, there may be a shift in the series’ dynamics.
Stepping into the shoes of the veteran characters who held our series together for the first six seasons, it’s now Layla, Coop, and Jordan who find themselves in mentorship roles. This change, alongside a host of new faces, could entice fresh fans to hop aboard, as they might not require extensive knowledge of the past six seasons to appreciate what lies ahead. Yet, the absence of Spencer James and Olivia Baker, who have been the heart and soul of our series for years, raises intrigue about how Coop, Jordan, and Layla will rise to the challenge or if the new characters can continue the magic that this show has created. However, even though beloved characters might not be regulars anymore, it doesn’t mean we won’t see them again in the future.
Samantha Logan is indeed coming back to All American, reprising her role as Olivia Baker. While Spencer (presumably played by Daniel Ezra) might not be seen on screen, Olivia’s return could shed light on aspects of their life in New York, Olivia’s writing career, and Spencer’s football journey. The seventh season might not match the initial expectations fans had before learning about Daniel Ezra’s exit due to Spencer’s success being drafted. However, this doesn’t mean the series can’t revisit its core themes with a fresh perspective. Characters like Layla, Jordan, and Coop can utilize their life experiences, friendships, and guidance from mentors to craft a compelling narrative for these characters we’ve been following for years, offering a new take on them.
Additionally, the CW Network announced the release dates for other shows too. “Wild Cards” season 2 is set to debut on Wednesday, February 5th, at 8:00 PM. The first episode of “Good Cop/Bad Cop” will air on Wednesday, February 19th, also at 8:00 PM. In “Wild Cards”, Vanessa Morgan and Giacomo Gianniotti star. For “Good Cop/Bad Cop”, Leighton Meester and Luke Cook take the leading roles.
