Growing up with these incredible stories and unforgettable characters has been a truly magical journey, and it’s heartwarming to see the franchise come alive in a new way.
Universal Pictures has recently released a fresh video about training dragons, which previews the upcoming live-action remake of the renowned animated fantasy series. This revamped version is set to hit cinemas on June 13, 2025.
In the rugged island of Berk, long-standing enmity exists between Vikings and dragons. However, Hiccup, an innovative yet unnoticed son of Chief Stoick the Vast, breaks tradition by befriending Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. This unusual friendship sheds light on the real nature of dragons, shaking the core of Viking society. Alongside Astrid, a fierce and ambitious ally, and Gobber, the village’s eccentric blacksmith, Hiccup navigates a world filled with fear and misunderstanding. As an old danger resurfaces, threatening both Vikings and dragons, Hiccup and Toothless’ bond proves crucial for shaping a new era. They must tread carefully on the path to peace, exploring territories beyond their comfort zones and redefining heroism and leadership.

What happens in the How to Train Your Dragon video?
The video showcases director Dean DeBlois delving into the film’s relatable tale and explaining his choice to transform the animated series into live-action. Furthermore, it offers a sneak peek into the making of the movie, featuring its primary actors like Mason Thames and Nico Parker. Moreover, it previews the film’s thrilling action scenes. Additionally, it captures the excitement of Thames and Parker upon discovering they were chosen to portray Hiccup and Astrid.
The live-action film “How to Train Your Dragon,” inspired by Cressida Cowell’s children’s book series, is written, directed, and produced by Oscar nominee Dean DeBlois. In this adaptation, Gerard Butler portrays Stoick the Vast, Nick Frost takes on Gobber the Belch, Julian Dennison becomes Fishlegs, Gabriel Howell depicts Snotlout, Browyn James is Ruffnut, Harry Trevaldwyn plays Tuffnut, and Rutth portrays Phlegma. Butler, who played Hiccup’s Viking father in the animated series, reprises his role here as well.
