Day 1 at The Gathering 2024: Everything that happened on the first day

As a seasoned Outlander fan with years of convention-going under my belt, let me tell you that The Gathering 2024 was nothing short of magical. I’ve been to many cons, but this one took the cake (or should I say turtle soup).

If you missed out on getting a ticket for The Gathering 2024 due to uncertainty about the event, now’s your chance to catch up on all that transpired. Let’s revisit the thrilling highlights of the first day at Sasnak City’s The Gathering!

Today’s discussion centers around Friday, November 15th. Although the convention commenced on Thursday evening, that night was not intended for meeting the cast. Instead, it served as an opportunity to collect registration materials and learn crucial schedules. It also provided a chance to mingle with your fellow Sasnak Sisters and Brothers.

The registration process was divided into stages, beginning with those from Fraser’s Ridge and continuing with participants from Craigh na Dun. Unfortunately, some items could not be accessed due to the hotel’s poor internet connection, but the team was aware of the issue and planned to address it the following day.

Photos, autos, and more at The Gathering 2024

Members of Fraser’s Ridge, Lallybroch, and Leoch were invited to visit the museum on Friday morning for a start to the convention. Everything kicked off with the group photo featuring the entire cast, an exciting opportunity to interact briefly with them. The plan is to pre-plan your pose beforehand to make things run smoothly.

“I enjoy striking a ‘battle stance’ for this particular occasion as it’s intriguing to observe the cast members’ reactions. I’ve been doing this since the beginning of these conventions, compiling their expressions.” And remember, feel free to explore and express yourself in your unique way, just make sure to keep it reasonable!

Besides the initial photos, there were more pictures taken too. Leoch and members required attendance to capture their tier photographs. Additionally, Fraser’s Ridge and Lallybroch members had the opportunity to gather additional necessary items, while those who had arranged Meet & Greets were extended an invitation to the museum prior to their scheduled time. The itinerary for the event was distributed during the preceding week, ensuring all participants knew when they should be at the museum from Friday onwards.

Before the Opening Panel began, there was a brief window for collecting autographs. The panel itself was short, but the actors’ humorous moments on stage were truly unforgettable. Since everyone’s phones were taken away during this time, no photos of the panel were captured. However, this created an environment where the cast members felt more relaxed and could be themselves, making for a memorable experience!

Turtle Soup for Fraser’s Ridge ticket holders at The Gathering

Typically, following the meeting, Fraser’s Ridge continued their stay for the preparation of the Turtle Soup. This event rotates among participants, and light refreshments are served at the onset. An open bar is also accessible.

I’ve written specifically about Turtle Soup. It’s a great way to meet the cast and get some selfies with each of them. This is only for Fraser’s Ridge holders and not for sale to everyone else.

Essentially, everyone else socialized and made connections with other Sasnak folk over meals while catching up, since many had just arrived late on Thursday evening or early Friday morning.

Today went exceptionally smoothly as everyone listened carefully and were always in the right place at the right time. In fact, having attendees listen to where they should be really streamlines things and saves a lot of hassle compared to chasing people around!
