As a seasoned gamer of the soap opera genre, I must say that watching the latest antics of Hope Logan and Carter Walton on The Bold and the Beautiful has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride.
As a devoted fan, I found myself rooting for Hope Logan and Carter Walton’s blossoming bond on The Bold and the Beautiful, sensing a heartfelt (albeit swift) connection unfolding. However, recent episodes have left me with concerns about Hope’s true motives towards Carter and her sudden ambition to seize Forrester Creations.
In the latest events, it wasn’t Logan who suggested having Carter sign on the LLC papers to gain control of the company; instead, he devised that scheme. However, she has been persistently advocating for this plan whenever Logan shows hesitation. On November 18th’s episode, Hope continuously presented the contract to Carter and argued her point about seizing the fashion company from Steffy and Ridge, effectively stealing it from under them.
On the episode on Tuesday, November 19th, she justified her arguments by thinking that she and Carter were actually resisting Steffy’s perceived rule and Ridge’s acceptance of it. Hope implied that the reason Carter’s proposal to expand FC into a worldwide conglomerate was rejected was not because they weren’t progressing with his business plan, but rather because it wasn’t their own idea.
It was frustrating for Carter to hear the argument he was making, as Steffy, Ridge, and Eric Forrester had already explained to him multiple times why they don’t want to become a conglomerate. They value their independence and dislike being accountable to a board. Moreover, they take pride in not having debt, are cautious about taking on loans or investors for Carter’s proposals, and have no intention of exploring new markets or broadening their scope.
Every reason they gave is valid, and they did actually listen to him, they just don’t agree with his ideas for the future of the company, which should be fine. Yet, somehow it’s not and it’s leading to Carter truly contemplating taking Forrester instead of simply leaving to build the business he clearly wants. For Hope to also say Carter is undervalued and unappreciated when he’s the COO, making him the second-in-command at FC, is wild.
However, he swallowed every word she spoke as if they were undeniably true and departed from the cabin in an attempt to persuade the father-daughter pair once more to align with his perspective. It’s challenging not to view this situation as Hope secretly hoping for success through Carter’s endeavors. Despite their repeated use of “we,” it is only him who stands to gain something, given that he remains employed by the company and the contract bearing his name alone enables them to execute a takeover.
If this situation backfires on Carter, she might claim innocence. If she does, then his belief that she has feelings for him is misplaced. They are relying on their COO not to scrutinize the paperwork since they have faith in her. The current plotline is frustrating, more so because Carter criticizes Steffy for making a personal decision when firing Hope, but he’s only fighting so hard for her due to his own interest in her. Similarly, his plan to take over Forrester Creations is not supported by the others.
Listening to the Logans talk about Hope’s life’s work through the Hope for the Future project, while they ponder the advantages of exploiting Eric’s life’s work and taking it from him, has been quite an experience. They are also worried about the potential backlash the company might face if they openly acknowledge Hope’s dismissal, but there seems to be no discussion on how detrimental it would be for both Carter and Hope to stage a coup. The fashion world might not easily accept such a move without significant negative press and long-term vendors potentially ending their relationship with FC under their leadership.
As a devoted fan, I eagerly await the unfolding of this storyline, but fervently wish for the Forresters’ triumph. It bewilders me that Carter and Hope have chosen such an illogical route – seizing a company seems simpler than addressing their relationship issues honestly. Surely, a clean resolution to their romantic entanglements would be far more beneficial than this chaotic situation.
