On November 17, 2024, Half-Life 2 set a new record for simultaneous players with an impressive count of 64,085, during its 20th anniversary celebration. This number surpassed any previous player counts since SteamDB began tracking games, even though it’s important to note that Half-Life 2 was already released before the inception of SteamDB, suggesting this might not be the highest number of players the game has ever had at one time.
On its 20th anniversary, it seems we won’t be receiving anything groundbreaking for Half-Life, but it’s heartening to see this timeless masterpiece being celebrated on such a significant occasion.
