CS2: Falcons lose to SAW, now face elimination in Shanghai Major RMR

As a die-hard CS:GO fan with years of invested time and emotions into this beautiful game, I must admit that watching Falcons stumble in Shanghai has been nothing short of heartbreaking. The roster boasts some of the best talents the scene has ever seen – s1mple, Snappi, Magisk, dupreeh – yet they’ve consistently failed to find their groove.

In order to advance to the major, the Falcons team that includes Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev must conquer two straight best-of-three matches, possibly also competing in a deciding match for seventh place.

Falcons face elimination in Shanghai!

From my perspective as a dedicated fan, the match on Anubis was a tough break for the Falcons. Our seasoned in-game leader, Marco “Snappi,” faced challenges with his call-making, whereas our team’s positioning and trade execution left much to be desired.

The Falcons repeatedly tried to capitalize on SAW’s newest player, André “Ag1l” Gil, who was stationed at the A site. However, this tactic failed miserably, as the new Portuguese player outshone everyone else with a staggering 20 kills under his belt.

GILAOOO!

SAW’s unity and orderliness left the Falcons struggling, as there was no visible reaction from their experienced squad.

SAW’s João “story” Vieira also shined bright multiple times.

Falcons just were the worse team, all game long.

In a comfortable victory, team SAW secured their win with a score of 13 to 5. Meanwhile, it was Ag1l who stole the show, scoring an impressive 20 points.

2024 hasn’t been kind to us Falcons fans, as another tough loss adds to our disappointment. We started the year brimming with hope, boasting a lineup of seasoned players such as Snappi and ex-Major champions Emil “Magisk” Reif and Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen. However, despite our stellar roster, we’ve struggled to find our rhythm on the field.

In simple terms, although s1mple’s arrival was praised as a potential game-changer, even he hasn’t been able to reverse their poor performance. Their games have been lackluster and disorganized, causing both fans and experts to wonder if this team can find stability.

In the future, they plan to include Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, a player from G2 Esports, by the year 2025. However, their immediate objective is unambiguous: Achieve victory in the Major tournament.

Ahead lies a challenging uphill battle. The falcons need to secure consecutive elimination victories merely to stay in the game. If they somehow manage to advance, another decisive match for seventh place could be waiting as an extra obstacle. Given their current position, it seems difficult to envision them making it through the tournament bracket at this stage.

The loss to SAW highlights a persistent pattern for Falcons: they struggle to perform at their best when it matters most. Given their roster of top-tier players, including the greatest of all time in CS, their results have fallen disappointingly short. Despite s1mple’s exceptional abilities and fierce competitive drive having sparked remarkable comebacks in the past, this situation seems more daunting than ever.

At the moment, everyone’s focus is on the Falcons team as we watch to see if they have the determination to maintain their title aspirations. After all, never underestimate s1mple, but time is quickly slipping away for this talented lineup.

They will take on Gamer Legion in the 1-2 pool at 9:00 AM, tomorrow. Loser is eliminated.
