Producer Gnanavel Raja breaks silence on complaints about Kanguva’s loudness, addresses negative feedback from audience

As a seasoned cinephile with decades of movie-watching under my belt, I find myself both intrigued and amused by the predicament surrounding Kanguva. The film, starring the ever-versatile Suriya, has certainly stirred up a storm in the cinematic landscape.

Since its debut, the movie “Kanguva,” featuring Suriya, has faced a variety of reactions regarding one particular element – the intense soundtrack. Viewers have shared their displeasure about the high volume of music and sound effects, stating that it negatively impacted their overall viewing experience. Not long ago, the film’s producer, Gnanavel Raja, addressed these issues openly.

The film’s producer shared that he had a meeting with everyone involved in displaying the movie, asking them to decrease the sound level by two notches to make the overall noise level more bearable for the viewers.

Gnanavel Raja explained that they consulted with all the cinema exhibitors and asked them to lower the volume by two points in response to feedback about excessive loudness. He clarified that this issue is not related to Devi Sri Prasad, the film composer, but rather a result of sound mixing, which will be rectified during tonight’s screening.

Additionally, I delved into the question of whether my work on the film “Siva” garnered any unfavorable responses from the viewing public. Upon its debut, it appeared that various social media platforms were flooded with a reasonable amount of criticisms and disapproval.

In contrast to those who seemed to find the movie’s storyline predictable, I was among the ones who felt that there were certain aspects of performance within the cast that didn’t quite live up to expectations, with a few exceptions – notably, Suriya himself.

Nevertheless, Gnanavel Raja later disagreed with the audience’s criticism, except for the initial 20 minutes that he acknowledged struggled to hold viewers’ interest.

He mentioned that beyond some minor criticism during the first 20 minutes, there were no further negative comments about the movie from the audience who paid to watch it.

Previously, the Academy Award-winning sound designer, Resul Pookutty, responded to the criticism from viewers about Kanguva’s intense background music and score being too loud.

Resul stated, “It’s long overdue for our community to take a firm stance and make ourselves heard clearly. A movie won’t be worth revisiting if viewers leave feeling they have a headache.

For those unfamiliar, the movie “Kanguva” is Suriya’s debut project with director Siva. The film’s ensemble includes Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, along with other talented actors.
