As a lifelong gamer who has been waiting for this moment, I can hardly contain my excitement! The inclusion of female hockey players and teams in EA Sports NHL 25 is long overdue, and it’s about time we see representation that truly reflects the diversity and talent within the sport.
Through a multi-year agreement, the Professional Woman’s Hockey League and Electronic Arts have teamed up. This collaboration means that upcoming EA Sports NHL games such as NHL 25 will likely feature female hockey players and teams. There is also a possibility that future hockey simulations from EA Sports may include representation of women’s hockey.
This week, Electronic Arts and the Premier Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) have teamed up as detailed in a recent press statement. Beginning around December 5, 2024, in an upcoming holiday title update, players from various women’s hockey teams will be integrated into EA Sports NHL 25. The update will introduce six teams – Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montréal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres – to participate in Play Now, Online Versus, Shootout, and Season Modes. Furthermore, the Walter Cup, which is the prestigious trophy awarded at the end of the season in the PWHL, will also be included in this update.
This Holiday season, there’s a variety of options to suit everyone’s taste!

EA Sports NHL Executive Producer Bill Dollar was excited to share the PWHL content with fans:
Though we may not have been die-hard enthusiasts in our Shacknews critique, we can certainly appreciate its minimal charm. With a scheduled launch on December 5th, get ready for the thrill of women’s hockey as it makes its way into EA Sports NHL 25. Stay tuned!
