As a seasoned gamer with a knack for wrestling games, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and intrigue when it comes to the tale of Goldberg and Matt Riddle. Having grown up watching these legends in their prime, I must say that their feud was an unexpected twist in the grand tapestry of WWE lore.
Legendary WWE Hall of Famer, Goldberg, and ex-US Champion, Matt Riddle, don’t often share the same views regarding wrestling techniques. On multiple occasions, Matt Riddle has voiced his criticisms towards Goldberg’s in-ring approach.
2019 marked the beginning of some strife as Goldberg squared off against WWE icon The Undertaker at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia. The fight was fraught with various mishaps, making it challenging for both veterans. During the contest, Goldberg sustained an injury, cutting his head open after colliding with a post. The questionable match left fans worried about the well-being and age of these WWE legends.
Riddle, who had been outspoken about Goldberg’s wrestling style, took shots at him after the match, calling him “absolutely the worst wrestler in the business.” This escalated the tension between the two in WWE. They even had an awkward backstage encounter during WWE SummerSlam 2019.
Previously, Matt Riddle discussed resolving an issue with a WWE Hall of Famer, and more recently, he disclosed the contents of their talk.
Matt Riddle reflects on settling differences with Goldberg
Matt Riddle recently discussed his resolution with Goldberg on the Barstool Rasslin podcast. They cleared up their differences during a chat over drinks while flying back from WWE’s Saudi Arabia event.
Previously known WWE star revealed, “You know, Bill and I have chatted about things. In fact, we were on a flight back from Saudi Arabia, where we were both participating in a show… We shared some drinks and had a good conversation.” Riddle also emphasized that he and Goldberg now have a better grasp of each other’s viewpoints.
In regards to his UFC background, Riddle clarified, “I get what you’re saying; I didn’t intend it like that. We’re professional wrestlers. I’m merely stating facts, and I can support them… Many in WWE perceived it as disrespectful, but if someone from UFC transitions to WWE, should I ignore my entire fighting career?
Currently, Matt Riddle and Goldberg have made peace and moved past their disagreements. At present, Riddle is competing in independent wrestling events following his departure from WWE in 2023. In contrast, Goldberg has announced that he will have his final match scheduled for the year 2025.
