The plot unfolds in the years after the Great Depression, revolving around the Charles family, who own a piano that was carved by an enslaved ancestor as their cherished heirloom. Hawkins has been cast in several recent productions, such as the vampire thriller “The Last Voyage” of the Demeter and a musical adaptation titled “The Color Purple”.
