As a fan who’s seen more than a few reality shows, I can confidently say that The Summit is quickly becoming one of my favorites. And it’s not just because of the stunning mountain vistas or the nail-biting challenges. It’s the way they handle situations like Amy’s recent predicament that makes this show stand out.
Occasionally, life can seem unfair as events beyond our grasp occur, leaving us with little choice but to adapt. Thankfully, this isn’t true for Amy in “The Summit” since she has control over her circumstances.
Tonight’s latest episode, airing on Wednesday, November 13, will feature the group attempting to traverse a deep gap or chasm – an experience that most of them are likely unfamiliar with. However, they seem eager for the test. It’s revealed that there are penalties for those who fail to hold onto the rope continuously during this task.
Initially, Amy fails to cross over, which is unfortunate for her. Yet, a glimpse of the upcoming episode reveals that she wasn’t at fault; it was the rope that caused the problem.
The Summer sneak peek shows the failing rope
At the beginning of the preview, Dusty promptly notes that the rope appears worn. Indeed, as we switch to a scene, the rope does not cause Amy to fall off. It seems the rope itself had a flaw, which could have led to more severe consequences. Thankfully for Amy, she only gets annoyed by the unexpected twist of events.
No problem, but the safety team feels it’s best she has another opportunity. After all, it seems unfair not to let her have another go since this incident doesn’t reflect on her skills. Isn’t it only fair that she gets a chance like everyone else? I’m glad The Summit is offering her a second chance; and I can’t wait to see her try again. It’s refreshing to witness the producers acknowledging a mistake and making amends for a level playing field.
It’s understandable that some people might find this difficult to accept. Some individuals unfortunately didn’t manage to reach their destination, which can be attributed to their own challenges. Amy is at a disadvantage now because she’s already exhausted from having done it before; she must do it again. In essence, the circumstances still aren’t entirely fair for her.
Will she manage to cross over again? You can take a look at a preview of “The Summit” to discover the answer.
The Summit airs Wednesdays at 9:30/8:30c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
