As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and skepticism regarding the upcoming mobile spinoff of Monster Hunter, titled Monster Hunter Outlanders. Having grown up on the original games, the thought of taking down colossal beasts on-the-go sounds like a dream come true. However, the success of such a transition hinges heavily on the collaboration with TiMi Studios, known for their work on Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokémon Unite.
Ever since Capcom’s record-breaking game, “Monster Hunter World,” debuted in 2018, the series has scaled new global heights. We’ve experienced a live-action film adaptation, “Monster Hunter Rise,” and next on the horizon: a mobile installment as part of the franchise expansion.
Teaming up with the studio behind CoD: Mobile and Pokémon Unite
As fans eagerly anticipate the arrival of the upcoming blockbuster title, “Monster Hunter Wilds” set for release in 2025, Capcom has unveiled a mobile spinoff named “Monster Hunter Outlanders”. In collaboration with TiMi Studios, renowned for their work on “Call of Duty: Mobile” and “Pokémon Unite”, they are developing an open-world survival game. This game can be enjoyed individually or in cooperative play with up to four participants.
In the game titled Outlanders, you can expect key components similar to the Monster Hunter series, including exploration, crafting, and of course, hunting. However, it will also introduce live-service and social features to enhance your gaming experience.
Given Monster Hunter’s widespread success and Tencent’s (TiMis is a subsidiary of Tencent) history, there’s potential for an engaging portable game that could prove profitable for Capcom. However, we’ll need to be patient as the game doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date.
What are your thoughts on the mobile approach of Monster Hunter? Are you interested in the spinoff?
