As a die-hard fan who’s been following the sci-fi genre for decades and can recite lines from classics like “Alien” and “Predator” in my sleep, I must say that the Reapers in Elevation have left me both intrigued and slightly disappointed.
The long-anticipated film titled “Elevation” has been a hot topic lately. This dystopian action thriller follows the journey of a lone father and two women as they attempt to safeguard a child from terrifying beings. As the movie is now showing, viewers are eager to unravel its plot, particularly the backstory of the menacing entities. Consequently, one may wonder about the nature of these creatures in “Elevation” or their names, which are referred to as either “monsters” or “reapers.” Therefore, let’s discuss the origins and characteristics of these mysterious beings in the “Elevation” movie.
Here is everything you need to know about the creatures in the film.
What are the Reaper monsters in Elevation?
The Reapers are technically assembled creatures who kill humans in Elevation.
In the movie, Nina, along with Will, experiments with a chemical concoction in her lab to eliminate the monsters, as they found that conventional weapons like guns and grenade launchers were ineffective against these creatures. However, despite her efforts, she couldn’t find the right combination of bullets and chemicals needed for this task.
Following several trials, she discovers that Cobalt must be combined with her ammunition. The experiment proves successful when Nina annihilates the reapers by causing them to explode. Upon eliminating the initial reaper, Nina also comes to understand that these creatures are not ordinary hunters since they do not consume humans or animals for sustenance. In the closing scenes of Elevation, it is disclosed that Reapers are merely killing machines engineered to target humans.
Where did the Reapers come from in Elevation movie?
In the movie, it’s still uncertain where the Reapers originally hail from. Despite being depicted as machines, their origin story remains unconfirmed. Yet, the post-credit scene subtly suggests a new horde of celestial creatures arriving via meteors.
It’s suggested that perhaps the Reapers were constructed by extraterrestrial beings as weapons against humanity. Conversely, it appears implausible that humans could have engineered these creatures given the relatively primitive state of their technology.
Another idea posits that the initial horde of these monstrous creatures may have emerged from beneath the earth, while the subsequent wave could have descended from above. Yet, it’s only in a possible follow-up movie that we might find definitive answers about the origins of the Reapers.
Elevation is currently running in theatres.
