The Transgression area of The Pale Heart, a place I’ve traversed many times before, took on a whole new dimension as I delved deeper into its shadowy depths.

Facet of Defiance is one of the many Prismatic Fragments players can unlock in Destiny 2. Like the others, this one is acquired by completing a sort of puzzle, which is basically just killing a bunch of enemies until a Tormentor spawns.

How to get Facet of Defiance

In the sector known as The Pale Heart’s Transgression, you’ll encounter the aspect of Defiance. Upon entering this area, move along the left-hand wall until you spot a cavern bearing a seed. This seed grants you the Shielded from Darkness buff, allowing you to endure within the cave safely.

Within the cave lies a straightforward riddle: You need to eliminate the Acolyte Eyes, an action that triggers enemies to appear at intervals. Defeating these adversaries is crucial for revealing more eyes. The Acolyte Eyes can show up anywhere within the tunnels, so keep exploring until you’ve found them all (don’t forget to refresh your buff).

Over time, a malevolent boss called the Heart of Torment will emerge. Defeating this boss yields a Prismatic Key. Use this key to unlock a chest and acquire the Defiance Fragment. This item confers an ability: Finishers trigger an explosion that electrifies, burns, slows, severs, or volatile-izes targets, depending on the kind of super damage your equipped super inflicts.
