What is Daruma about?
The movie titled Daruma is written by two-time Academy Award winner Peter Farrelly and directed by Alexander Yellen. It centers around Patrick, a character portrayed by Tobias Forrest, who is a quadriplegic, as he uncovers a long-forgotten fact – he has a 4-year-old daughter. As he realizes that he cannot provide her with the care she needs, he seeks help from his grumpy neighbor Robert, played by John W. Lawson, who is also a double amputee, to transport her to live with her grandparents across the country.
The movie also stars Blue Bloods’ Abigail Hawk and The Rock Horror Picture Show’s Barry Bostwick.
On November 15, 2024, Daruma will hit both movie theaters and digital platforms for viewing. Additionally, there’s a grand red-carpet event scheduled for the film premiere at Steve Sarowitz’s Wayfarer Theater in Highland Park, Illinois.
The movie will have subtitles for the hearing-impaired audience, while visually-impaired individuals can utilize assistive listening devices in designated theaters or the All4Access app for audio descriptions. Click the link to discover more details about it.
Furthermore, the filmmakers provided Bingo games for home use and a discussion guide for digital viewers, facilitating group discussions after watching Daruma.
Yellen explained that since many viewers expressed a preference for watching movies at home due to convenience and accessibility, they chose to release the film in cinemas and on streaming platforms concurrently. The supporters of this movie have been eagerly awaiting its release for years; we didn’t want to make them wait any longer while we finished our theatrical run. Yellen was also responsible for the cinematography of the film.
