Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Boondock Saints in select theaters Nov. 7 & 10

As a fan who’s grown up with the gritty charm of Boston-born films, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as The Boondock Saints turns 25. This iconic tale of divine justice and brotherly bonding, starring Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery, has been etched in my heart since its controversial debut back in the days when dial-up internet was still a thing.

In a more simplified version, “The Boondock Saints” is a well-known movie featuring Norman Reedus, recognized from “The Walking Dead,” and Sean Patrick Flannery, known for his role as Nefarious. They portray twins Murphy and Connor MacManus in the film. These brothers think they’ve been divinely chosen to cleanse their hometown of Boston from the corrupt criminal forces that control the city.

25 years have passed since the release of the cult classic movie “The Boondock Saints”, and it’s making a comeback! Iconic Events is organizing special screenings in select theaters across the country on November 7th and 10th. Grab your tickets for this exciting event right here!

Troy Duffy’s directorial debut in the action-packed vigilante film initially faced challenges due to the Columbine High School massacre, which happened just a week before its premiere. Concerns arose that the quick release of the movie might inspire similar acts of violence. Unfortunately, this led to a flop at the box office. However, after its home video release, it gained a devoted following and became known as a cult classic.

In the movie, it’s Reedus and Flannery, along with Willem Dafoe, David Della Rocco, and Billy Connolly who make up the stellar cast.

In case you can’t make it to the screening, you can catch “The Boondock Saints” online on platforms like Peacock, AMC+, Tubi, Roku, and others.

The movie sparked a follow-up titled “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day,” which hit theaters in 2009. Once again, Reedus, Flannery, and Connolly graced our screens, joined by Clifton Collins Jr., Julie Benz, and Peter Fonda for this second chapter.

The Boondock Saints III

Ever since I’ve been a passionate fan, there’s been talk swirling around about a third film in this beloved series. Finally, in 2024, my favorite director, Flannery, announced that the next installment will be filmed between March and August of 2025! Can’t wait to see it come to life on the big screen!

In the initial film, we see two characters convinced they were divinely chosen to purge Boston of evil-doers, allowing righteousness to thrive. The sequel opens with these brothers residing in Ireland, but are compelled to go back to Boston when falsely accused of killing a priest.

The upcoming film is being labeled as a fresh take and enlargement of the series. Unfortunately, Duffy won’t be back as director, but no information about the new director or cast members has been revealed so far. If filming occurs in spring 2025, it’s thought that viewers might get to see the movie in 2026.
