Will Laurent return in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3?

As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless characters in the sprawling world of The Walking Dead universe, I must say that Laurent, the young French lad with a heart as big as his spirit, has left an indelible mark on me. His journey, fraught with danger and emotional turmoil, mirrors the very essence of survival in this post-apocalyptic world.

Actor Louis Puech Scigliuzzi made his debut in the world of “The Walking Dead” during the initial season, specifically within the character arc of “Daryl Dixon.” He resided at the Abbey of Saint Bernadette alongside his aunt Sister Isabelle (portrayed by Clemence Poesy), and it was here that he first encountered Daryl, played by Norman Reedus.

In simpler terms, Laurent is the son of Lily Carriere (Faustine Koziel), Isabelle’s sister, and Quinn (Adam Nagaitis). At that time, Quinn was dating Isabelle. During her labor with Laurent, Lily was bitten and then revived, causing some to speculate that Laurent might be immune to the virus, potentially making him a savior for humanity.

He formed a special bond with Daryl, as he never had much male influence in his life. Daryl showed him survival skills and didn’t treat him like a child. The depths of this bond was featured in the season 2 finale episode when they discussed Laurent heading to America with Carol (Melissa McBride) and Ash (Manish Dayal) and Daryl staying behind. It was an emotional moment when Daryl gave Laurent a guitar, and the pair sang “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Viewers teared up as you could hear Daryl’s voice crack with emotion.

A key goal in the final episode was to remove Laurent from France since the Union of Hope wanted to keep him as a symbol of hope. Their strategy involved making him appear immune to a zombie bite by staging an attack, but they had no solid evidence to back up these allegations.

Initially, Ash, Carol, and Laurent prepared to board the plane for their return journey to America, but events took an unexpected turn with Jacinta (Nassima Benchicou) and her troops appearing. Fortunately, Daryl, who had already exited the plane before takeoff, along with Carol, Fallou (Eriq Ebouaney), and Codron (Romain Levi), managed to hold them off, allowing Ash and Laurent to escape safely.

At the conclusion of the episode, Daryl and Carol embarked on a journey through the Chunnel, destined for England, and by the third season, they would find themselves in Spain.

Will Laurent appear in season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon?

During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the head content officer of The Walking Dead Universe (TWDU), Scott M. Gimple, was inquired about the possible comeback of the character, Laurent.

Scott M. Gimple mentioned that he received a text from Louis, which was almost like asking the same question. However, Louis is actually quite courteous and was simply checking in. This situation reminds Scott of a complex network of paths, as there are various projects he’s been handling, and he’s been contemplating how Laurent might fit into these projects in America. There are numerous potential connections, like if we do one thing, we can’t do another, or if we stop doing something, we can’t do something else. It’s also about figuring out what resources we need and who is available when. Nevertheless, Laurent and Louis are both on his mind. Scott finds them both terrific and believes that Laurent brings out the best in Daryl. He’s a fan.

The Daryl Dixon spin-off series has been given the green light for a third season and is being produced in Spain. Since Laurent’s character resides in America, his arrival may offer us a sneak peek at him within the Commonwealth, or alternatively, he could be introduced into a fresh spin-off. Gimple has hinted that additional spin-offs might be in development.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon returns to AMC and AMC+ exclusively in 2025.
