In this post-apocalyptic world, twenty-five years have passed since the Earth became uninhabitable due to environmental collapse. Living within their grand bunker are Mother, Father, Son, and now, Girl, who disrupts their peaceful routine. The innocent Son, in his mid-twenties and never having seen the outside world, is captivated by Girl, causing the fragile optimism that binds this affluent family to unravel. As tension escalates within the group, their seemingly perfect life begins to disintegrate, exposing deep-seated emotions of regret and resentment that threaten to tear apart their balance. However, their confrontation with harsh realities may also pave a new path forward, one built on understanding, love, and adaptability.

Besides Swinton playing the role of Mother, Shannon as Father, The End film also features George MacKay (from 1917), who portrays the Son; Moses Ingram (known for The Queen’s Gambit) plays the Girl; Bronagh Gallagher (from Brassic) is cast as Friend; Tim McInnerny (Stromboli) takes on the Butler role; Lennie James (Colombiana) acts as Doctor, and Danielle Ryan (Wild Mountain Thyme) portrays Mary.

Additionally, Oppenheimer collaborated on a project titled “The End” with Rasmus Heisterberg, where Swinton took up a role as one of the producers.
