As a long-time CS:GO fan and someone who has seen countless highs and lows in this beautiful game, I must say that G2’s victory at the BLAST Premier World Final was nothing short of spectacular! It was a masterclass display of teamwork, strategy, and individual skill that left me utterly spellbound.
Following an overwhelming display in the championship, G2 rightfully earned their title as champions at this year’s final BLAST tournament, where they left no doubt about their dominance.
G2 dominate Spirit 3-0 to win the BLAST Premier World Final!
In the grand final, team G2 had a significant advantage, given their impressive record against Spirit this season. So far, they had won 8 out of 9 matches, with their only defeat occurring in a game where m0NESY, one of G2’s members, was not present.
The triumph of G2 is all the more remarkable given their surprising last-place elimination at IEM Rio just a short while ago.
In the semifinals held in Singapore, the outcomes were extremely tight, with both Spirit and G2 needing extra maps to secure their victories. Spirit managed to outperform Astralis, while G2 triumphed over Vitality.
The grand final kicked off on G2’s first pick of Mirage. As per usual, they had a bit of a slow start on their T-side, closing said half with a 5-7 deficit.

The CT-side, however, was no issue, as G2 did not lose a single round there, taking Mirage 13-7.
Regardless of having the fewest kills among all players on the server, G2’s in-game leader, Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelksi managed to secure a clutch win in the final round.

The most surprising event of the series unfolded on Anubis, as it was Spirit who claimed the victory, with G2 taking a 7-5 lead on their T-side this time around.

They then also won the CT side flawlessly, yet again, closing the map out 13-5!
After 2 maps, Spirit were yet to win a single T-round.
In the series, Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov’s troops found it difficult to retaliate effectively. On the other hand, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, who is often favored to receive the HLTV number 1 player of the year award, was also unable to make his typical significant impact.
On the map Dust 2, which served as the concluding stage for this epic final, team G2 managed to pull ahead once more, securing victory in an impressive 8 rounds this time around.
The MVP of the tournament, m0NESY, delivered some insane AWPing on the final map:

Regardless of Spirit managing to claim some rounds on their attacking side, G2 was effortlessly wrapping up the series with a 13-7 win.
Team Spirit only managed a total of 19 rounds across all 3 maps.

In the coming weeks, G2 aims to maintain their impressive performance as they embark on a journey through their major tournament campaign, beginning with the European Regional Major Ranking (RMR).
They’re planning to have their final dance with the current team setup, as it appears that NiKo will be departing the squad and joining Team Falcons towards the end of the year.
