As a seasoned movie enthusiast who has seen more Christmas movies than I can count on my fingers (and toes), let me tell you that this year’s lineup is nothing short of spectacular! With a wide range of genres, from romantic comedies to family-friendly animations, there’s something for everyone.
Many folks consider November as the most delightful period of the year, as the holiday season truly kicks off following Halloween. Regarding Netflix movies, there’s no doubt that November is undeniably the best time of the year.
With an abundance of captivating new Netflix films arriving in November, choosing what to watch and what to pass on becomes quite a challenge due to their compelling natures.
Given the scarcity of time during the hectic holiday season, it’s challenging to catch every movie. Should you prioritize watching Christmas rom-coms over award-winning dramas… or vice versa?
To help simplify your movie selection process for the upcoming month, here’s a list of eight outstanding Netflix films that will be released, with our top recommendations to ensure you don’t miss out on the best ones!
Meet Me Next Christmas
Watch! A trend you’ll soon notice on this list, I’m not going to turn anyone away from Netflix’s new batch of Christmas rom-coms. They’re just too fun! You have to lean into the cheesy, predictable romance, which has turned into the reason for the season (movie-wise, at least). Christina Milian stars in Meet Me Next Christmas as a woman chasing true love and Pentatonix tickets. Music, love, and merriment… What more could you ask for? Watch the holiday kickoff on Nov. 6.
Pedro Páramo
Actor Manuel García-Rulfo takes center stage in Netflix’s upcoming film titled Pedro Páramo, set to debut on November 6th. Adapted from the book by Juan Rulfo and directed by Rodrigo Prieto, the movie explores the delicate boundary between past and present through a ghost town in Mexico, serving as a backdrop for a deeply personal family history. If magical realism isn’t your preference, feel free to give it a miss.
Emilia Pérez
Take note! This year, Netflix is generating quite a stir with its upcoming film “Emilia Pérez,” which features an impressive cast including Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, and Édgar Ramírez. The musical crime comedy was a standout at the Cannes Film Festival and is predicted to secure numerous Academy Award nominations. Regardless of whether it’s your usual cup of tea, its exceptional performances make it worth watching when it debuts on Netflix on November 13.
Hot Frosty
Take a look! Many might pass over the movie titled Hot Frosty, given its plot about a woman falling for a living snowman. However, this film is worth the watch! Boasting an impressive cast led by Lacey Chabert alongside Dustin Milligan, Katy Mixon, Lauren Holly, Joe Lo Truglio, Craig Robinson, and Chrishell Stause, it provides the heartwarming seasonal escape we’re all seeking. Catch it on November 13!
The Merry Gentlemen
Hey there! Whoever thinks that Christmas movies should be devoid of a touch of sensuality, think again! The moment the first glimpses of The Merry Gentlemen were unveiled (as seen above), we’ve been eagerly awaiting its arrival. Chad Michael Murray, reminiscent of Magic Mike? Count us all in! This movie also features Britt Robertson as a woman trying to save her family’s small-town theater with a dash of holiday charm and seduction. Tune in for this lively Christmas escapade starting November 20th.
Spellbound
Hey there fellow gamer! Looking at this list, I haven’t found many family-friendly movies yet, but if you’re planning a cozy movie night during winter break, give Spellbound a try. It’s an enchanting animated musical adventure comedy that revolves around a girl trying to save her kingdom and her parents. Starring Rachel Zegler, John Lithgow, Jenifer Lewis, Tituss Burgess, Nathan Lane, Javier Bardem, and Nicole Kidman, this movie promises some magical entertainment! The festivities kick off on Nov 22nd! Enjoy the magic together with your family!
The Piano Lesson
Skip! Once again, the case of a movie being a “skip” is only based on personal preference, because when it comes to quality, The Piano Lesson isn’t really skip material. The film comes from director Malcolm Washington (Denzel’s son!) and bases its story on the play of the same name by August Wilson. The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Danielle Deadwyler, and more. However, skip if you’re not a fan of period dramas.
Our Little Secret
Look! Netflix has saved the most delightful new Christmas romantic comedy for the finale. Actress Lindsay Lohan is back on Netflix for a second time this year, following the spring’s popular rom-com titled “Irish Wish.“. This time around in “Our Little Secret“, she finds herself in an unexpected romance with her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend’s brother, making for quite an awkward Christmas getaway! The star-studded cast includes Ian Harding, Kristin Chenoweth, and Tim Meadows. This side-splitting holiday romantic comedy premieres just a day before Thanksgiving.
