Tom Holland & Austin Butler to Star in Amazon’s American Speed

As a seasoned gamer with an eye for Hollywood news and a heart for blockbuster movies, I can hardly contain my excitement about Amazon MGM Studios’ latest acquisition – “American Speed,” starring none other than Tom Holland and Austin Butler!

Amazon Studios has recently secured the rights for “American Speed,” an upcoming production that boasts two of today’s most prominent actors, Tom Holland and Austin Butler, set to take on leading roles.

Through his production company, Atlas Entertainment, Charles Roven – known for producing American Hustle and Oppenheimer – will be the main producer of an upcoming movie. Joining him as producers are RD Whittington and Douglas Banker. Ryan Sanak from Atlas Entertainment will serve as executive producer. Dan Wiedenhaupt (Alpha) is currently working on the script.

What is American Speed about?

As a passionate racing enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that a new movie titled “American Speed” is based on the extraordinary tale of the Whittington brothers. These brothers, renowned in the world of racing history, were not only part of the scandalous 1980s IMSA era but also found themselves entangled in an intriguing saga. In this time, several racers were accused of funding their racing endeavors through illicit means such as drug trafficking, money laundering, or tax evasion.

Following Holland’s latest participation in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, which pairs him with Matt Damon (known for The Talented Mr. Ripley and The Martian), an announcement has been made. Notably, the actor himself revealed that filming for Spider-Man 4 is scheduled to begin “during the summer season” next year.

Holland is primarily recognized for portraying the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s trilogy of Spider-Man films (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home), as well as in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

Apart from his roles within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he has also taken on significant parts in films such as “The Impossible,” “In the Heart of the Sea,” “The Lost City of Z,” “The Devil All the Time,” “Cherry,” and “Uncharted.

Simultaneously, Butler, who initially appeared in Disney Channel and Nickelodeon productions, gained global recognition for his depiction of Elvis Presley in the 2022 biographical film titled Elvis.

Among his numerous projects, Butler has also worked on Aliens in the Attic, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, The Carrie Diaries, The Intruders, The Dead Don’t Die, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Bikeriders, Dune: Part Two, and Masters of the Air. Upcoming for him is a role in Darren Aronofsky’s forthcoming crime thriller, titled Caught Stealing.
