As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of binge-watching experiences under my belt, let me share some insights on this weekend’s Netflix offerings.
This weekend is the first of November, and Halloween has already passed. Although it doesn’t mean you need to stop enjoying horror movies and other spooky activities, many people will likely follow Mariah Carey’s advice and begin celebrating Christmas, as she has announced that “the time” has come for it.
Beginning on November 1st, Netflix will release close to a dozen fresh Hallmark Christmas movies, among them “A Biltmore Christmas” starring Bethany Joy Lenz and “Haul Out the Holly” along with its sequel, starring Lacey Chabert. This massive release of holiday romantic comedies marks the start of Netflix’s own Christmas movie marathon for the month, with more original movies coming up next week.
If you’re not quite in the holiday spirit just yet, fear not! Netflix has a diverse range of new releases that steer clear of Halloween, Christmas, or Thanksgiving themes. For instance, “The Diplomat” is back with its second season, a fresh docuseries delves into ’80s alleged alien abductions, and Martha Stewart’s career-spanning documentary ranks among the top 10.

The Diplomat season 2
Catch me as I dive back into my Emmy-nominated role as Kate Wyler in season 2 of Netflix’s gripping political thriller, “The Diplomat”! After a car bombing that came close to claiming my husband’s life, I find myself grappling with some of the toughest challenges yet. As I delve deeper into uncovering the truth behind the series of attacks affecting the UK, I stumble upon startling revelations about the very governments I’m supposed to maintain peace between. It’s a tense and twisting journey, but one I can’t look away from!
Surprisingly, the second season surpasses the first in quality and ends with a shocking cliffhanger you won’t anticipate. Honestly, it’s engrossing and hard to believe! The twist and turns throughout the six episodes of the second season are leading up to the already-confirmed third season. Even if political drama series aren’t typically your thing, The Diplomat offers compelling storytelling and standout performances that make it a must-watch. It’s definitely the best choice for your weekend binge!
The Manhattan Alien Abduction
Why not give this a miss? There’s still some chilling viewing left on Netflix this weekend, like the recently released investigative documentary series, “The Manhattan Alien Abduction“. This series from the ’80s recounts a story where more than 20 individuals claimed to have witnessed an alien abduction. The three-episode docuseries delves into the truth and questions if there truly are extraterrestrial beings that have visited our planet. If you’re not into documentaries about aliens, then this might not be your cup of tea when you browse through the top 10 this weekend.
Martha
Perhaps this weekend, instead of delving into alien abduction tales, you might find Netflix’s new Martha Stewart documentary more appealing. This film chronicles the journey of Martha Stewart, from her rise and fall to her subsequent resurgence, spanning almost two hours. In the documentary, Stewart shares intimate details about her life, career, and her empire’s highs and lows. Although she has some reservations about certain directorial decisions, if you’re a fan of this cultural legend, it’s definitely worth your time.
