Is Patterns a new age for Kelsea Ballerini?

As a gamer who’s been following Kelsea Ballerini’s journey for close to a decade now, it feels like I’ve grown up alongside her – from her debut album to her latest release, “Patterns.” It’

10 years have flown by since I became a fan of the incredible Kelsea Ballerini! It feels like just yesterday when she inked her record deal in 2014, and ever since then, it’s been a non-stop ride with no signs of slowing down.

After the debut of “The First Time“, she has experienced quite a bit, and if you’ve been keeping track since then, you’ll be aware that she navigated through a highly publicized relationship and subsequently a divorce. Furthermore, she penned a book and faced a dispute stemming from a tweet.

Truthfully, Kelsea’s career has seen its fair share of highs and lows, but she’s managed to funnel much of it into her creative work. Many still recall her incredibly successful last EP, titled “Rolling up the Welcome Mat“, which dealt primarily with her divorce and the subsequent fallout.

Anticipating the release of “Patterns”, there was a general eagerness among many to discover the new subject matter Ballerini might explore and whether it would be a fresh approach or a continuation of her existing style.

Is Patterns something new for Kelsea Ballerini?

For nearly a decade now, I’ve been an avid fan of Kelsea Ballerini, and I even had the pleasure of watching her open for the Jonas Brothers. She truly knows how to put on a fantastic performance, making her one of the most entertaining artists I’ve seen live. More recently, I was looking forward to hearing her latest album, Patterns, as she has faced quite a bit in her personal life.

In a sense, the album Patterns represents a fresh direction for Ballerini. She’s navigating her divorce with poise, discussing newfound love, and pondering over past decisions – it’s truly remarkable to witness her personal growth over the past decade. The song “I Would, Would You” touches on enduring friendships, a topic recurring in her earlier albums that I find endearing. A notable change from her past works is “Wait!”, where she openly admits her flaws while also expressing her newfound love.

Nevertheless, Ballerini’s latest work, Patterns, isn’t entirely distinct from her previous creations. She continues to deliver the lively tunes we’ve grown fond of such as “Baggage” and “Nothing Really Matters.” In fact, it demonstrates that she understands her fans’ preferences while adding a deeper layer to her music.

This album isn’t flawless, but it seems closer to her latest EP than her last full album – which fans adored. Moreover, Kelsea Ballerini is currently dating Chase Stokes, adding an extra layer of delight for fans. She’s also announced that she will be touring in 2025, so if you haven’t listened to the album yet, there’s no rush since concert tickets won’t be needed for a while.

In summary, I adore Kelsea Ballerini and her music, so I do enjoy this album, but it won’t replace my all-time favorite of hers. However, the songs “I Would, Would You,” “Wait!” and “Baggage” are my personal favorites from the album. If you’ve given the album a listen, I’d be curious to hear which tracks resonated with you most!
