As a seasoned Monster Hunter veteran with countless hours spent slaying beasts and crafting gear in various iterations of this epic series, I can confidently say that the co-op experience in Monster Hunter Wilds is as exhilarating as ever. While some may find the process of inviting a friend to join a hunt slightly different from previous games, it’s still as straightforward and intuitive as we’ve come to expect.
Cooperative play in Monster Hunter Wilds is just as intuitive and hassle-free as it is in other games within the series. Players who have dabbled in a Monster Hunter game before are likely already familiar with the process of inviting a friend for a co-op hunt, but there are some minor variations in Wilds. In this instance, you can participate in a Link Party, but you won’t physically be in the same world as your friend. To achieve that, you’ll need to perform an action called an Environment Link.
How to invite a friend
In the tutorial of Monster Hunter Wilds, an SOS Flare can be found. However, it’s only when you arrive at the base camp in the Windward Plains that you can effectively establish a cooperative game session. Once there, you’ll have the opportunity to extend party invitations.
- Open the pause menu (Esc, Menu, or Options button)
- Navigate to Communication tab
- Select Invite a Friend and choose which friend to invite
Your friend will discover an invitation in the “Invitation Notifications” section, which can be accessed under the Communications tab. This is where they’ll find all their invitations, including the upcoming significant one.
After they enter your game, you’ll find yourselves in a Linked Party, a term that signifies you’re connected but still independent. If you wish to collaborate on hunting, you’ll have to transmit a Link to the Environment, thereby placing both of you in the same world.
- Open the pause menu
- Navigate to Communication
- Select Link Party
- Choose Invite All to Environment Link
Once your friend accepts the World Connection, both of you will be in the same virtual environment. You’ll then be able to embark on quests together and delve into the mysteries of the world side by side.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s plenty to keep you busy, but typically, the initial task players tackle is hunting monsters together with their friends. Inviting friends remains much the same as before, without the need to enter each other’s worlds directly – instead, it functions more like a shared lobby area.
