As a seasoned esports enthusiast with over two decades of immersion in the digital gaming world, I can confidently say that the Snapdragon Pro Series has truly come into its own. From my humble beginnings playing Pong on an Atari 2600 to witnessing the birth and evolution of esports, I’ve never seen such a remarkable growth spurt in mobile gaming.
As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the Snapdragon Pro Series, the world’s biggest mobile esports tournament, has smashed some records in its third year. We’ve seen an incredible surge in audience interaction, player involvement, and viewership, breaking past what we achieved before! ESL FACEIT Group and Qualcomm Technologies Inc. made this amazing feat possible.
Sam Braithwaite, VP of Game Ecosystems, Mobile at EFG stated:
Mobile esports isn’t the future – it’s the now. After facilitating nearly 1 billion matches during Year 2, we’re already engaging nearly 2.8 million players globally across seven of the biggest mobile titles. As we enter Season 6 in regions around the world, there’s never been a better time to step into the mobile arena.
As a gamer, let me tell you about the last competitive season, Season 5, which was quite remarkable. We hit a major milestone with official broadcasts racking up a whopping 235 million views! That’s 23 million hours of non-stop gaming action watched by gamers like us. Not only that, but the gaming ecosystem saw almost 2.8 million unique players joining forces on over 61,000 distinct teams. It was an incredible time to be a gamer!
A memorable highlight from Season 5’s activities was the Finals of the Snapdragon Mobile Challenge in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This three-day event was one of the most-viewed and best-attended events ever in the Snapdragon Pro Series, attracting over 65,000 live spectators, reaching a peak concurrent viewership of 888,710, and accumulating more than 11.8 million hours of total watch time.
At the global tournament for Call of Duty: Mobile, held at DreamHack Atlanta, we saw an impressive turnout. The event attracted a staggering total of 19 million viewers and peaked with 270,000 watching simultaneously. This translated to a massive 1.8 million hours collectively spent viewing the competition.
As Season 6 approaches, EFG and Qualcomm plan to leverage the successes of the previous season as a launchpad for their goals during the forthcoming competition cycle.
EA Sports FC Mobile is set to make its inaugural appearance in the Snapdragon Pro Series. Known for its engaging soccer gameplay, this will mark the first time an Electronic Arts title competes in the series’ vast roster of video games.
The competition will be offered in Latin America for the upcoming season, with the Open Qualifiers scheduled to run throughout November and is now open for registration. The next stage, the Qualifier Finals, will be held between November 10 and 17. This will build up to the grand finale, the LATAM Snapdragon Mobile Challenge 2024, a live event held in São Paulo, Brazil, between December 14 and 15. It will showcase the best 12 players from the region.
Sam Turkbas, EA’s Senior Director & Commissioner of Football Esports, commented:
We are delighted that EA SPORTS FC™ Mobile will be part of the LATAM Snapdragon Mobile Challenge 2024. FC Mobile allows players around the globe to realize their football dreams on the virtual pitch. We are excited to see the best players in LATAM have the opportunity to qualify and compete in-person at the finals in Brazil.
Apart from this, the Snapdragon Pro Series Mobile Masters is set to return in April 2025, featuring Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. For the first time, it will take place in Southeast Asia, attracting top teams from various regions for a chance to claim the game’s inaugural global Snapdragon Pro Series championship.
