Walking Dead: Dead City new cast member Dascha Polanco list of movies and shows

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for survival-oriented narratives and a soft spot for strong female characters, I am thrilled about Dascha Polanco joining the TWD universe as Lucia Narvaez in Dead City. Her background, from her humble beginnings in the Dominican Republic to her breakthrough role in Orange is the New Black, mirrors the resilience and determination that Lucia seems to embody.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” the latest spinoff from AMC’s iconic series. This time around, we delve deeper into the lives of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), characters who first graced our screens in the original show. The upcoming season promises fresh faces, including Dascha Polanco, best known for her role in “Orange is the New Black.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, AMC revealed some fresh faces for the second season of Dead City. These actors are Damián Pablo Polanco, Jake Weary, Keir Gilchrist, and Pooya Mohseni. Earlier, it was announced that Kim Coates from Sons of Anarchy would be joining the cast as Bruegel, a tough gang leader in Manhattan’s most formidable group.

At New York Comic Con’s Dead City panel, Polanco will embody Lucia Narvaez, who holds a significant military rank, be it Major or Colonel. During the discussion, she mentioned that her experience from ROTC training in high school is being utilized for this character. She was taught to wield a firearm as a means of gaining power, and she considers this role as her most favored so far.

Chris Jericho, serving as the moderator, inquired about Polanco’s most striking observation upon joining TWDU. What astounded her most was the abundance of walkers on set, yet what truly took her aback was the fact that the series isn’t solely centered around the undead. Instead, it delves into the survival aspects, the bond and loyalty within relationships, and the intricate history among the established characters. She offers a glimpse into her character, explaining that she is driven by specific goals and every action has a reason. Moreover, she disclosed that her allegiance lies with New Babylon, the community led by Pearlie Armstrong (Gauis Charles).

Dascha Polanco roles

Polanco hails from the Dominican Republic and relocated to the United States at a tender age. Her acting journey commenced with minor roles in the CBS shows ‘Unforgettable’ and ‘NYC 22’, which are police-centric dramas. In the year 2012, she was selected for the role of Dayanara “Daya” Diaz, an inmate in a women’s prison, on the Netflix original series ‘Orange is the New Black’.

After that, she starred in ‘Gimme Shelter’ and ‘The Cobbler’. Subsequently, she was featured in the biographical movie ‘Joy’, which centers around the life of self-made millionaire Joy Mangano. In this film, Penelope played Jackie, Joy’s close friend.

Apart from these roles on shows like “Russian Doll,” “When They See Us,” “American Crime Story,” “Evil,” and “Poker Face,” she additionally appeared in the 2021 musical drama film “In the Heights.” This movie featured Anthony Ramos, Corey Hawkins (a fellow TWDU actor), Leslie Grace making her cinematic debut, Melissa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Gregory Diaz IV, and Jimmy Smits.

Lately, I’ve had the privilege of bringing to life Queen Dora in the animated Dora series, Vice President Hansen in Air Force One Down, and Dana in Junction. It’s been an incredible journey lending my voice to these memorable characters!

Greetings! We’re thrilled to have Dascha Polanco join our TWD Family. We can hardly wait to see Lucia Narvaez grace the screens in season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City, scheduled for 2025.
