Marvel’s mega comeback on Disney+: Less isn’t more—It’s just more Marvel!

As a lifelong Marvel fan who’s seen more comic books than I can count, I must admit, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of my dreams! With Spider-Man, Daredevil, Ironheart, and even a Marvel Zombies series on the horizon, it feels like Christmas came early.

2025 looks set to be a blockbuster year for me as a Marvel fan, with an action-packed lineup of superhero comebacks, daring new series, and a not-so-subtle nod that the “less is more” phase for Marvel might have passed us by. Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Iger suggested scaling back on Marvel shows, but it seems Marvel has taken off like the Hulk with vibranium-infused shoes in the opposite direction. Excited to see what’s coming? Let’s dive in!

Beginning on January 29, “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” will start the lineup, revisiting Peter Parker’s initial year as a web-slinger with a new twist. This animated series will portray Spidey navigating life as a rookie superhero alongside popular characters Nico Minoru from the Runaways and Amadeus Cho, Marvel’s alternative Hulk. Consider it as Peter’s “Freshman Year Survival Guide,” with Cho and Minoru there to help him avoid getting caught up in his webs. With its signature blend of humor and emotion, it promises a charmingly nostalgic exploration of the Spider-verse.

Get ready, fans! The highly anticipated series, Daredevil: Born Again, premieres on Disney+ on March 4th. Picking up where Netflix left off, this installment brings back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, along with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, and Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye. The return of these fan-favorite characters promises a complete reunion. As for the storyline, Hell’s Kitchen seems to have grown even larger and more sinister than before. Intriguingly, a mysterious white-masked figure called Muse is hinted at in the teaser, adding another layer of menace to an already intense roster of villains. If past events in Hell’s Kitchen are any indication, Matt will likely need some fresh boxing gloves for this fight!

On June 24th, the character known as Ironheart, or Riri Williams, makes her debut. First appearing in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Riri’s individual series is set to explore some typical Marvel ethical dilemmas. A sneak peek hints at these complexities; Anthony Ramos portrays Parker Robbins (also known as the Hood) discussing how many iconic victories have morally debatable beginnings. It appears that Riri’s path won’t be an easy one, but with her exceptional engineering skills and unyielding determination, she stands prepared to confront Robbins directly.

Anyone who’s ever accomplished anything iconic in life has had to do some questionable things to get it done.

On August 6th, we’ll be treated to “Wakanda’s Gaze“, a four-part animated miniseries that follows the Wakandan War Dogs on their quest to recover vibranium artifacts across history. This is an elegant homage to the rich and evolving stories of Wakanda, giving fans a glimpse into its secretive yet powerful heritage, steeped in tradition and clever technology. Unlike some of the more action-packed offerings, this series promises a thoughtful exploration rather than nonstop action.

In October 2025, the Marvel Zombies arrive, marking Marvel’s debut of its first TV-MA animated series. Imagine our beloved Avengers, now turned into the walking dead. You can anticipate seeing zombified versions of Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, and Hawkeye (Clint Barton), transforming the idea of superheroes into something more like superghouls. The mature TV rating suggests this series will be uncompromising in its horror elements – Marvel is really letting loose its animated, undead horror potential.

In December 2025, the finale explodes with excitement as Wonder Man arrives on the scene, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II taking on the character of Simon Williams. This new take on the story sees Simon embarking on a superhero adventure that cleverly satirizes Hollywood and fame. With his first appearance as an actor vying for the role of Wonder Man, the series adds a comedic twist, making it a sharp commentary on the culture surrounding superheroes themselves. To top it off, Ben Kingsley reprises his role as Trevor Slattery, adding even more humor to the mix—a perfect blend of a fading actor and an aspiring superhero sharing the screen.

Wrapping up the year on December 22nd, What If…? comes back for its last season, diving deeper into peculiar multiverse chaos. Marvel is continuing with a daily release style, offering fans an exhilarating dose of reality-switching marathon viewing as a festive gift. From Spider-Man turning rebellious to Hulk encountering his equal, it’s Marvel’s intriguing way of questioning, “You didn’t expect that, did you?

2025 could be a bustling year, but judging from the latest preview, Marvel seems determined to keep surprising us with original ideas, a dash of nostalgia, and unexpected genre twists.
