As a long-time fan of The Walking Dead, I must say that my excitement for the upcoming season of Daryl Dixon is palpable! Having grown up with these characters since their debut back in 2010, witnessing their evolution and the intricate relationships they’ve built has been nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster.
AMC has renewed the series “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” for a third season, taking the main characters from France to Spain. Filming for this new season started in Spain back in August 2024. On a positive note, the bad news is that the second season, titled “The Book of Carol“, will be wrapping up its run with its season finale coming up soon.
The second season of the Daryl Dixon spinoff brought back Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier from The Walking Dead Universe (TWDU). McBride initially played Carol in the third episode of The Walking Dead, titled “Tell It to the Frogs,” which also marked Norman Reedus’ debut as Daryl Dixon.
Carol and Daryl have experienced quite an adventure together since the beginning of the main show. They share a deep connection due to their sorrowful pasts, a bond that remains unshakeable. Although fans may hope for a romantic relationship between them, the creators have consistently clarified that while they are more than just friends, their relationship has never been romantic in nature.
This season of Daryl Dixon’s show has showcased the profound bond between characters. When Carol learned that Daryl was sent to France, she took actions unexpected by many viewers. To find her dearest friend, she manipulated a man mourning the loss of his own son into traveling across the ocean to France.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol season finale
Season 2, Episode 6 – “Farewell to the Children” – November 3, 2024
In the final episode of “The Book of Carol,” Anna (Lukerya Ilyashenko) and Jacinta (Nassima Benchicou) will form an alliance, as hinted in the trailer. This partnership comes after the primary antagonists, Genet (Anne Charrier) and Losang (Joel de la Fuente), were eliminated earlier during the season.
While this season was full of greatness, it is not as good as the first season of Daryl Dixon, likely because that was all brand new. Introducing Carol back into the story gave the season a nostaligic feel, but her inclusion, for some reason, meant that Isabelle had to die. Norman Reedus boldly stated, “I will say the finale of Season 2 is the best one-hour Walking Dead ever. I’ve said it in press before. I stick to it. It’s mind-blowing.” If this holds true, it will redeem the season.
In the final episode of “The Walking Dead” season featuring Daryl Dixon, titled “The Book of Carol,” airs on both AMC and AMC+ on November 3rd. Don’t forget to tune in!
