Since June, Darshan Thoogudeepa has been kept in prison due to his connection with the gruesome murder of Renukaswamy. In the most recent developments, the Karnataka High Court is set to announce its decision on Darshan’s application for interim bail on October 30.
In my professional opinion as a lifestyle expert, it’s crucial to bring attention to the fact that the necessary medical reports regarding the health of the Kannada actor were provided by doctors from the Ballari Central Prison and the Head of the Department of Neurology at a Ballari government hospital. According to a report in Bar and Bench, the Karnataka High Court scrutinized these reports and concluded that the actor, known as Darshan, necessitates surgery due to complications with his spine and feet.
I was absolutely thrilled when I learned that Justice S Vishwajith Shetty reserved his decision on Darshan’s interim bail plea after listening to the compelling arguments presented by Senior Advocate CV Nagesh, defending Darshan, and State Public Prosecutor P Prasanna Kumar. The anticipation is killing me!
The defense attorney for the actor facing murder charges contended that Darshan had lost feeling in both his feet and requested the court’s permission for him to undergo surgery at the private Apollo Hospital in Mysuru. Additionally, he indicated that Darshan was prepared to cover all costs associated with the medical treatment himself.
However, the State Public Prosecutor opposed the interim bail plea saying although the actor’s medical reports recommend surgery, it did not specify the number of days Darshan will be admitted at the hospital. Additionally, he urged that Darshan get his surgery done at a government hospital.
Following the presented points, the Court acknowledged the Supreme Court rulings brought forth by Nagesh and stated that it is beyond the State’s authority to mandate where a defendant awaiting trial can obtain medical care.
Instead, the High Court inquired, “Why Mysuru? Allow a doctor in Bengaluru to assess you, inform us about the urgency of the surgery and the number of days you might require hospitalization. Since interim bail has a time limit, we need to know your estimated stay.” The court indicated that it would make its decision known on October 30, 2024 regarding this issue.
