Margaret Qualley to Star in Victorian Psycho, Director Revealed for Horror Movie

As a long-time fan who’s been following Margaret Qualley‘s career since her days as Jill Garvey on “The Leftovers,” I can confidently say that she continues to impress me with her versatility and commitment to challenging roles. Her upcoming project, “Victorian Psycho,” promises yet another intriguing character for her to delve into, this time in a gothic horror set in 1858.

After her role in the recent body-horror sensation “The Substance”, Margaret Qualley has been chosen to lead in an upcoming horror film called “Victorian Psychopath“.

In March 2025, I’m thrilled to share that a fascinating project I can’t wait for is set to begin production! This captivating tale, taking us back to 1858, introduces Winifred Notty, played by Qualley, a woman with secrets hidden within her. Her assignment? To educate children in a remote, eerie manor, a setting that promises to heighten the drama and mystery.

Who is directing Victorian Psycho?

According to a Deadline report, filmmaker Zachary Wigon, known for “Sanctuary” and “The Heart Machine,” will direct the upcoming movie “Victorian Psycho.” The script is penned by Virginia Feito, who also wrote the novel upon which the film is based. Notably, this project will be a reunion for Wigon and actress Eliza Qualley, following their previous work together in “Sanctuary” (2022).

As a fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming series “Victorian Psycho.” In this chilling tale, I find myself drawn into the role of Winifred Notty (Qualley), a quirky governess who steps into the eerie Ensor House, a secluded gothic mansion. My duties involve teaching table manners and imparting knowledge about the family’s past, all while suppressing my own dark, psychopathic inclinations. As I settle into life at Ensor House, strange occurrences start to unfold: staff members mysteriously vanish, and the estate owners grow increasingly suspicious of their enigmatic governess. The suspense is palpable as I delve deeper into this haunting mystery.

The movie is being co-produced by Dan Kagan of Longlegs Productions, along with Sebastien Raybaud and Wigon. Nick Shumaker and Bard Dorros will serve as the executive producers.

Besides her leading roles in Sanctuary and The Substance, Qualley is widely recognized for her portrayal of Jill Garvey in the supernatural drama series The Leftovers. Additionally, she has acted in two films directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, namely Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness.

Among Qualley’s other works are films such as Drive-Away Dolls, Midday Stars, My Salinger Year, Seberg, Strange but True, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Adam, Native Son, Death Note, and The Disappearance of Sidney Hall.
