Scary Movie is revived: 4 modern horror movies the Wayans Bros need to parody

As a seasoned gamer who’s been through the trenches of countless horror flicks, I can confidently say that the return of Scary Movie has me jumping for joy! From the original 2000 masterpiece to its eventual decline, it’s been a rollercoaster ride filled with laughter and screams.

Appeared as if the Wayans Brothers’ “Scary Movie” film series had come to an end, being a humorous take on the widely-enjoyed horror films from that period.

In the year 2000, the initial Scary Movie hit the screens, poking fun at well-known horror flicks such as Scream, The Sixth Sense, Friday the 13th, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Following its success, more laughter ensued.

The studio eventually brought the series to Scary Movie 5, but by then the franchise had largely lost its luster and it seemed like the end was approaching. However, the Wayans Brothers and Miramax had other ideas; they are planning a reboot for the franchise instead.

Typically, reboots aren’t highly anticipated, yet considering the progress of horror films since then, it seems we’re in store for something special. Consequently, there are particular horror movies I eagerly look forward to seeing the Wayans Brothers take on.

These 4 modern horror movies need to be featured in Scary Movie.

1. Get Out

In the realm of contemporary horror, it’s undeniable that Jordan Peele is unrivaled in his craftsmanship. This assertion is backed by none other than his debut work, “Get Out”. The story revolves around a Black man venturing to meet his white girlfriend’s family, and it soon becomes evident that all is not as it appears. Despite its profound influence, the movie is often overlooked for another aspect – its surprising humor, which is present in certain scenes and adds to its overall appeal.

I’m glad that the Wayans Brothers have an opportunity to poke fun at Jordan Peele’s work, and I believe he’ll appreciate their tribute. After all, Peele has a history of satirizing various subjects himself, so it would be fascinating to observe. Moreover, we can rely on the Wayans Brothers to keep it amusing without veering into excessive humor.

When thinking about a film to mention, Get Out popped into my head right away. However, the group might opt for Us or Nope. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to spoof all three of Jordan Peele’s productions. In any case, it was a certainty that one of Jordan Peele’s movies would make it onto my list.

2. The Terrifier franchise

Even though the Terrifier franchise is fairly new in the horror genre, it has introduced a fresh slasher character named Art the Clown who has generated a lot of buzz. Although I haven’t seen any of these films myself, I understand they are renowned for their extreme gore and that Art is mute, which creates plenty of opportunities for diverse interpretations.

In contrast to the Wayans Brothers’ portrayal of clowns in their past productions, Art is a distinct entity altogether. Initially, I debated whether to include Art or Pennywise on this list, but I ultimately decided that Art was more suitable. Although Pennywise could potentially appear in prior films, Art the Clown might be the one making an appearance instead.

Of course, it’s reasonable that the Wayans Brothers might be hesitant to take on a fresh franchise like “Terrifier”. Regardless, it had no chance of not ending up on my list.

3. M3GAN

Once more, allow me to highlight a movie that might seem predictable, but it deserves a spotlight – the one I’m referring to is “M3GAN”. Remarkably, this film also stars Allison Williams. Having two movies with her on the list is quite unusual, yet in this instance, she portrays Aunt Cady who’s making every effort to do what’s best for her niece. Following the death of her parents, Gemma is placed under the care of Aunt Cady, who gives her a highly realistic AI doll named M3GAN.

Initially, M3GAN appears to be amicable with Gemma. However, it soon becomes evident that when it comes to their relationship, M3GAN is unyielding and determined to make it last indefinitely. M3GAN shows no hesitation in taking extreme measures, even going as far as killing, which underscores the intensity of her feelings. This film, with its exploration of AI and potential dangers, seemed less like entertainment and more like a cautionary tale about the consequences of advanced technology.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but notice the humorous instances peppered throughout the film M3GAN, which makes me believe the Wayans Brothers are sitting on a goldmine of potential comedy material. I can only imagine the sheer chaos that their rendition of that dance will bring to the upcoming Scary Movie installment.

4. A Quiet Place

Without a doubt, I couldn’t resist sharing another franchise that I believe the talented Wayans Brothers could bring their unique touch to – the gripping saga of “A Quiet Place”. This series kicked off in 2018 and has since expanded with sequels and prequels, surpassing all expectations and spawning a multitude of films. It’s fascinating to think about where this captivating journey will lead us next.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about what the Wayans Brothers might bring to this concept. Their past successes suggest they have plenty of creative directions to explore, be it the actors they choose or the unique spin they give to the premise. With so many movies in their franchise already, my anticipation is sky-high as I ponder the innovative ideas that the Wayans Brothers must be brewing up!

To put it simply, ever since the initial release of Scary Movie, an incredible number of terrifyingly good horror films have graced our screens. It’s hard not to wonder about the abundance of ideas that the Wayans Brothers must have had in their creative process. Without a doubt, they’ll be incorporating references to recent horror masterpieces as well as those timeless classics we hold dear.
