As a long-time fan of Mahershala Ali’s captivating performances and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) intricate storytelling, I find myself at the edge of my seat waiting for the upcoming film “Blade.” With each delay, my anticipation grows stronger.
It appears that the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming movie “Blade” has encountered another postponement, causing some fans to ponder if the main actor, Mahershala Ali, may depart from the project. However, it remains unclear whether or not Mahershala Ali is truly stepping away from “Blade”.
Here is everything you need to know about the actor’s departure speculation from the film.
Could Mahershala Ali be leaving Marvel’s Blade after recent delay?
Mahershala Ali’s exit from Blade after the recent delay has not been confirmed.
In 2019, Marvel Studios unveiled plans for a fresh take on Blade at San Diego Comic-Con. Fans were thrilled to see Ali don the role of this legendary character. But unfortunately, despite initial excitement, the project has faced numerous obstacles and hasn’t yet come to fruition as planned.
The movie experienced numerous changes, including switching two directors, multiple script revisions, and actor departures due to scheduling issues. Furthermore, production was halted just weeks before it started. Although Ali appeared in a voiceover cameo in the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals, there’s been no progress on Ali’s Blade project since then.
Previously scheduled for a release on November 7, 2025, Blade’s movie has been postponed. Instead, Elle Fanning’s Predator: Badlands will take its place on that date. Additionally, three other Marvel Cinematic Universe films are slated for releases in February, May, and November of 2028. Regrettably, a new release date for Blade has not been set at this time.
Because of repeated setbacks and problems with the movie, some fans have been wondering if Marshela Ali could leave the Blade production. But for now, she has not officially commented on this possibility and appears to still be part of the project.
Film critics Jeff Sneider and John Rocha discussed on The Hot Mic podcast about the postponement of Blade, with Rocha sharing that a friend of his claimed to have heard Mahershala Ali expressing happiness over Disney’s decision to delay the film and showing excitement for the role. Rocha mentioned this information was passed along to him around six to seven days ago, implying that Ali might have known about the delay prior to confirmation. Nevertheless, these claims are unverified at present. (Paraphrased from GameRant)
Although Ali has not made an official statement about it yet, there are whispers that Marvel is expediting the production of a Midnight Sons film. Therefore, it’s plausible that Ali could be considering taking on this project since the Blade movie seems to be delayed, potentially offering him a new opportunity.
