As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of gritty dramas, I’ve seen my fair share of oil rigs, bankers, and dreamers in the world of television. Having just watched the intriguing trailer for “Landman,” I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation that’s akin to striking black gold itself.
The latest trailer for “Landman” features Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore as the main stars in a series by Taylor Sheridan. This series premieres with its initial two episodes on Sunday, November 17, only on Paramount+. New episodes will then be released every week on Sundays thereafter.
The show unfolds in bustling oil towns across West Texas and offers a contemporary exploration of the pursuit of wealth within the oil rig industry. The narrative is a blend of the lives of hardworking laborers and wealthy tycoons, both playing significant roles in an unprecedented boom that’s impacting our environment, economy, and global politics.

What happens in the new Landman trailer?
The trailer for this show is presented by Sheridan, famous for producing Yellowstone, and it starts with Thornton’s character discussing Texas. He explains that people are drawn to Texas in three ways: initially, there are dreamers like Michael Peña; next come the financiers, featuring Moore and Jon Hamm; finally, there are those in desperate situations, depicted through scenes of violence. Thornton’s character considers himself fortunate.
Stepping into the scene, I found myself engrossed in the heart of a gripping narrative, where the oil industry takes center stage. The tension escalates as a massive blast erupts, painting an unsettling picture. In stark contrast, it cuts to sharp-suited figures haggling over deals within a conference room. As the trailer reaches its climax, it subtly teases the diverse conflicts that fuel each character’s journey.
“Men perish, but oil companies live on.
In addition to Thornton, Moore, Hamm, and Peña, the Landman cast features Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, and Paulina Chávez. Notably, Andy Garcia is also part of the series as a guest star alongside Hamm and Peña.
In collaboration with Christian Wallace, Sheridan was instrumental in developing the series. They jointly oversee production along with David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and Stephen Kay. Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch are among those who executive produce for Imperative Entertainment, with J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt contributing from Texas Monthly. Peter Feldman holds the co-executive producer role. The show is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution and produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions.
