As a seasoned veteran of the Tyria lands and a faithful follower of Guild Wars since its inception, I must say, my heart skipped a beat when I heard whispers of a card game based on the beloved franchise. And now, here we are, with the tantalizing prospect of Lion’s Arch: Guild Wars Arena, a private playtest that has sent ripples through our community.
In the year 2023, whispers circulated about a potential Guild Wars card game due to job advertisements at NCSoft. Following a prolonged quiet spell, these rumors have resurfaced, with a playtest for the game appearing on Steam DB and sparking excitement among the gaming community.
Is Hearthstoene getting competition?
On October 25th, 2024, a buzz started circulating around SteamDB with a fresh thread titled “Lion’s Arch: Guild Wars Arena (Private Playtest)“. This new game was under wraps, keeping its player numbers hidden from the public eye. While the post itself didn’t spill many details, we gamers managed to gather some hints from the game’s cover art.
The sign prominently displays an undeniable picture of the historic Lion’s Arch, the main city in Guild Wars 2, which was devastated over the years. The design of the logo itself resembles the insignia of the capital city, Lion’s Arch.
NCSoft hasn’t given any details yet on whether or not ArenaNet, the creator of Guild Wars 2, is participating in the creation of this new game.
As a devoted fan, I must add that this is merely a playtest. Who can predict if the game will withstand the challenges of this trial? Rest assured, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way!
