As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast who’s been around since the days of arcade gaming and VHS tapes, I must admit that the upcoming Venom 3: The Last Dance has me intrigued. While the projected lower opening at the box office compared to Black Adam might raise some eyebrows, let’s remember that the success of a film isn’t always determined by its first-day numbers.
It’s possible that Tom Hardy’s upcoming film, “Venom 3: The Last Dance,” may not make as much money on its first day at the box office as “Black Adam” does. “Venom 3” is scheduled to hit theaters this coming Friday, with Hardy reprising his role as the symbiote character. This movie marks the end of Tom Hardy’s portrayal of the symbiote in the series.
Venom: The Last Dance projected to start slow at domestic box office
As per Variety’s report, Venom 3: The Last Dance is projected to kick off domestically with around $65 million, falling slightly short of the opening-day earnings of the 2022 Dwayne Johnson film Black Adam, which grossed approximately $67 million on its first day. However, it’s worth noting that despite its impressive opening, Black Adam didn’t fare well commercially and received mixed reviews from critics.
Contrarily, it appears that Venom 3 is set for success, garnering positive initial responses. Moreover, the previous Venom films have demonstrated box-office prowess. The first Venom, released in 2018, grossed approximately $80 million on its opening day and amassed a global total of $856 million, according to Box Office Mojo, making it one of the top earners of that year. Similarly, Venom: Let There Be Carnage reportedly earned around $90 million on its opening day, with a worldwide collection of approximately $506 million.
As reported by Deadline, despite a modest start, the upcoming Venom 3 movie under the direction of Kelly Marcel is projected to generate over $150 million during its debut weekend, surpassing its production budget of $120 million.
