The Agency is modeled after “The Bureau,” a French TV show produced by Éric Rochant. This show first premiered in France in April 2015, and it didn’t air in the U.S. until June 2016. Over five seasons, Mathieu Kassovitz, Sara Giraudeau, Jean-Pierre Darroussin, and Léa Drucker played leading roles.

The plot for this French spy series is drawn from true experiences and influenced by recent happenings. It delves into the personal lives and covert operations of agents within France’s foreign intelligence agency, similar to the CIA. The narrative concentrates on Guillaume Debailly, alias ‘Malotru,’ who inexplicably returns to Paris after six years undercover in Syria. As he strives to reunite with his daughter, ex-spouse, and peers, Debailly jeopardizes everything by reestablishing contact with his lover, Nadia, who could potentially possess secrets that endanger the agent.
