2005 may feel like ages ago gaming-wise, but Grey’s Anatomy is still going strong with Season 21! It’s amazing to see some of the original cast members who’ve been here since day one. The bond between us on set feels more like a tight-knit group of friends rather than just colleagues. Recently, our buddy Scott Speedman, who plays Dr. Nick Marsh, shared some hilarious behind-the-scenes stories that really showcase the camaraderie we share.
Scott Speedman says Grey’s Anatomy crew hits his hand if he makes mistakes while filming
On the set of Grey’s Anatomy, Scott Speedman revealed that one of the crew members occasionally taps him on the hand to correct him when he makes errors during the filming of surgery scenes.
During his latest interview on The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw, the Canadian actor shared an entertaining story. Speedman mentioned that a woman on set often scolds him when he performs surgery scenes, which he finds amusing. He stated, “There’s one woman there who always yells at me whenever I’m doing a surgery scene, and I really enjoy it.
Speedman also disclosed that his Grey’s Anatomy colleague would tap him on the hand if he deviated from the specified guidelines. As he put it, “It could be the way I’m gripping something, or I’m not getting something right, or she asked me to do something.” He went on to explain, “She would come over and, sort of like, tap your hand and say, ‘You’re not doing that correctly.’ You see, you’re trying to deliver a line, which you have no clue about, and you’re trying to do it seriously.
As we dive into Season 21 of this gripping medical drama, I can’t help but appreciate the authenticity that’s been maintained in the surgical scenes, just as Speedman has mentioned. It feels like we’re right there in the operating room!
In Season 14 of Grey’s Anatomy, Scott Speedman first appeared in a guest spot, eventually ascending to a regular character for Seasons 18 and 19. Since then, his character Nick Marsh has reappeared frequently on the show and serves as an occasional love interest for Dr. Meredith Grey, portrayed by Ellen Pompeo.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 premiered on September 26 and releases a new episode every Thursday.
