Joe Russo recently released an update on the latest version of Extraction 3, and we’re getting closer to the start of production for this eagerly awaited action-packed thriller.
What is the latest Extraction 3 update?
As I sit down to chat with Collider, here’s what Russo, the scriptwriter of our beloved first two films, shared: The third movie is a work in progress, and we’re still brainstorming the storyline for it. He also hinted that the cameras will roll next year, though he kept the details rather tight-lipped. So, fellow gamers, let’s keep our fingers crossed for more updates!
Currently, we’re deeply engaged in developing the story. We’re putting a lot of effort into it. Our aim is to start filming it next year.” Russo hinted. “I’m purposely vague about it because it adds to the excitement.
Previously, it was stated that director Sam Hargrave would return for the third installment of the series, and currently, they are working on aligning actor Chris Hemsworth’s calendar for the project.
“Indeed, we are currently working on it while coordinating Chris’s schedule. Sam Hargrave is returning as the director,” Russo stated. “This franchise offers an intriguing premise since the character is deeply emotionally scarred. I believe there are rich opportunities for storytelling in exploring his past and the complex relationship between his violence, self-loathing, and guilt. This complexity lends itself to telling more layered stories about him.
2023’s sequel to Extraction, titled Extraction 2, was helmed by director Sam Hargrave from a script penned by the Russos. The film featured Golshifteh Farahani, Tornike Gogrichiani, Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili, and Olga Kurylenko in its star-studded cast. This action-packed sequel was produced by the Russo brothers, who also directed Avengers: Endgame, under their production banner AGBO, along with Chris Hemsworth.
