As a cinephile with a soft spot for historical dramas and architectural masterpieces, I am absolutely thrilled about “The Brutalist.” The trailer alone promises a visually stunning and emotionally resonant journey into post-war America, as we follow the life of visionary architect László Toth, portrayed by the captivating Adrien Brody.

Arriving in a foreign land alone, László finds solace in Pennsylvania where influential industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren acknowledges his architectural skills. Yet, power and legacy often demand high sacrifices…

What is The Brutalist about?
In September, “The Brutalist” made its debut at the Venice International Film Festival, earning director Corbet a Silver Lion award for Best Direction. Additionally, it was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival as well.
Joining Brody and Pearce in the cast of “The Brutalist” are Felicity Jones, Joe Alwyn, Stacy Martin, Raffey Cassidy, Emma Laird, Isaach De Bankolé, and Alessandro Nivola. In simpler terms, these actors, along with Brody and Pearce, will be appearing in the movie titled “The Brutalist”.
Together with Mona Fastvold, Corbet penned the screenplay for this project. Previously, he directed “The Childhood of a Leader” in 2015 and “Vox Lux,” released in 2018. Notably, “Vox Lux” featured Natalie Portman and Jude Law as its main stars.
The movie is crafted by the team consisting of Andrew Lauren, D.J. Gugenheim, Brian Young, Andrew Morrison, Trevor Matthews, and Nick Gordon. “The Brutalist” spans about 3 hours and 35 minutes in total, with a 15-minute break included.
The Brutalist will be released in United States theaters on December 20, 2024.
