What Happened to Percy in Vox Machina Season 3? Death Speculation Explained

As a dedicated gamer and long-time fan of Critical Role, I’ve been deeply invested in the adventures of Vox Machina since their humble beginnings. The latest twist in Vox Machina Season 3 has left me reeling – Percy’s apparent demise at the hands of Anna Ripley.

There’s a lot of chatter among fans regarding the fate of a key character in Vox Machina Season 3. The burning question is: Is Percy dead? As the new season of The Legend of Vox Machina progresses, Percival de Rolo, or Percy for short, seems to suffer a heartrending demise, leaving viewers questioning if his death is final or if there’s still a chance he might resurface. So, what actually happened to Percy, and could we see him again in The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3?

Here is everything you need to know about the death speculation of the beloved character.

Is Percival de Rolo / Percy dead or alive in Vox Machina Season 3?

Although Percy is depicted as dead in Vox Machina, fans remain hopeful for his return.

In the seventh installment of Vox Machina, named “Cloak and Dagger”, Percy meets a tragic end. He’s fatally wounded by his adversary, Anna Ripley, and despite his team locating him, it’s too late. This incident leaves a profound impact on the group, causing ripples of shock to reverberate throughout them.

Despite Percy appearing to have met his end, fans of Vox Machina refuse to let go of hope for him. The series is adapted from the renowned Critical Role campaign, where Percy was revived after a previous death in Episode 69. In this original series, Percy’s comrades employed magic to disentangle him from Orthax, the demonic influence, and brought him back to life at Pike’s temple. This narrative arc has led fans to speculate that if Percy did indeed perish in Vox Machina Season 3, it might not be a permanent goodbye.

During the Critical Role series, the storyline fosters a sense of hope. However, Laura Bailey, one of the voice actors who plays a significant role, suggested a contrasting resolution in an interview with Polygon. She explained, “In this campaign, we managed to revive him quite swiftly, but if we’re frequently able to resurrect a character who dies repeatedly, it can diminish the impact. To make us truly feel the loss and confront our grief, I believe it required a more prolonged scenario.

Beyond this, Travis Willingham – both producer and actor – expressed that they aimed to make Percy’s demise impactful. Moreover, it appears that the Vox Machina series may deviate somewhat from the original campaign, implying that Percy’s character could also undergo changes. However, only future episodes will reveal the ultimate outcome for Percy.

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3 is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
